Found this while wandering around w/ my little boy one day. Got a good laugh from it, it's a 250cc single, but the guy has obviously put some work and effort into it. Mono-shock rear, clip ons, kick-only, wrapped pipe...

back in the old days the guys made choppers out of everything.

What? You mean like this? Guy in Alberta built this by hand w/ a v65 Magna motor (I think). Still looking for a pic of his radiator housing, but it's a original looking bike.

Yup, that's teh radiator housing he came up w/. Personally I would have done something a little different w/ it, but overall I think it's a cool looking bike. Love the bottom rockers on the forks, imagine spearing some roadkill w/ those?

I think I'd have to go w/ something like that V65 motor, or even a Vmax powerplant. Might just be the traditionalist HD in me, but those motors put out torque.

What about the two guys down in NC or SC building those turbo busa powered choppers?? 300+hp in a 350lb chopper!!! They have a video on the web. It will put the 330mm rear tire up in smoke at 80-100mph!! That's my kinda chopper. I always had the idea to build one, just never the funds. Now someone's gone and beat me to the punch!

But i have always thought a V-max motor with the v-boost mod in a chopper would be dynomite!! That let's you keep the more traditional v-twin look i guess.

a tl/sv 1000 motor would be the sh*t. i just wish this this whole chopper craze would end, and the custom cafe racer would become cool. i love watching the biker build off crap, but i wish they'd build something i was interested in. gsxr1100 streetfighter biker build off:) that's the show i want to see.

Yea- Red, a tlr mill might be pretty cool too. But i am really feelin you on the cafe racer thing. Being i used to own 2 norton gp racers, 1 Benelli and a rd350. Up until last year. That is cool!! My old kz 650 was all customized up like a old cafe bike. It was actually as fast as the cbr600f2's that year!! Them guys hated that old bike. I always embarassed them!! It was fun!!

Bikes are bikes, it's the guy (or gal) building them that gives it it's soul. Regardless of what it is, it's still a work of art in the eye of the builder. Just like w/ us an the older bikes, we're content in understanding that most of the parts we're putting on our older bikes anymore may have to be physically modified a bit to make them work... and we're willing and have the skills to do it. Whether or not the chopper bit is a craze or not is in the mind of those who perceive it. "Choppers" ahve been around for a LONG time, so "craze" maybe isn't the right word (IMHO). Custom bike is more like it. But I do agree that the Discovery Channel and American Chopper BS has spawned a whole new group of riders that would normally not even throw a leg over ANY machine had they not thought it would make them look cool and tough, v-twin or sportbike. Look in the other forums and on other sportbike and chopper sites to see what I mean. Most folks think riding a bike gives them a persona. I ride because I like the freedom, like to turn a wrench and be creative, and learn. I'm me, and I'm the guy I am w/ or without a bike. And if chicks dig it and it makes other guys jealous as a side-effect, so be it. I still do it because I enjoy it. Not because I feel the need to impress anyone or do wheelies or go 160mph or whatever. Only cause I enjoy the ride.
