Yeah, What the heck is wrong with you people... trying to err on the side of safety and trying to make sure that this guys nads don't get blown off on the off chance that his transmission explodes.

From the beginning you should have started off with, go ahead and ride it all day long, just make sure you keep it above 90 Mph to make sure you're as far away from 2nd gear as possible. Oh yeah, ride it on ice with bald tires too, just to be sure.

Jonnygsx, not very appreciative are you. FastCat (Jackie) wrote numerous replies to try to help you out and give you advice and you get pissed because she did not tell you what you wanted to hear? My suggestion is, next time you have a problem go to your "suzuki tech" and ask him. FastCat has helped me with numerous problems and always given great advice. She probably knows more than the "suzuki techs" down here anyway. Thanks. Jackie!!!

I guess that ole johnnygsxboy hasnt figured out that his friendly "Suzuki Tech" gets paid more to fix a blown apart tranny/crank/rods etc. than he does to just slap in a cog or two+ gasket. He will after that first estimate.

What the Suzuki tech did not tell you is that he does not give a flying flock whether you blow your bike up or not, he gets PAID to fix stuff, more you break, more he makes, sure you may get lucky and not have any additional problems but its a gamble, do you feel lucky son?????? If you wanted to hear keep riding it than why ask the question anyway?????

i can show you what one broken off tooth can do, i got a cracked piston skirt once from a errant piece of sharpnel flying through my motor.........

Thanks to everyone who freaked me out for nothing!
Apologies for upsetting your delicate emotional state. I promise, it will never happen again. I'll be sure to keep silent about any further questions you may have.
His next post.

Wanted: motor needed for my old school gixxer, MUST have working second gear.

Well I never said I didn't appreciate help from people. But, I obviously didn't want to be told not to ride it cause this is all i have right now, its this or nothing. You can warn me and say it COULD explode, of course I COULD get hit by a truck too. And the truck is probably more likely since no one seems to have ever actually seen or heard of one of these things exploding from this problem. With how common this problem is, if there was much of a risk of an explosion it probably would have happened at some point. You can call me an ass if you want, I don't really care. It's not like I actually know any of you anyways, but I wasn't trying to come off like that.

Johnny,
One of these days if you still have your gixxer you might meet us and wouldn't be better to know you as a thoughtful person?
Just be careful on the site there's alot of opinions on this post. I elected not to ride my bike when second gear skipped and spent 2K at the shop to fix her. With someones knowledge of splitting the cases and replacing the bad cogs, you'll save about $1200.00. So be careful whose toes you step on K?

All it takes is one missed gear at 120+ for a tooth to be torn off of a cog and jam the box. The box doen't have to explode to kill you it just needs to lock up. Yes I agree with your tech man the bike will be fine to ride until it dies but as we do not know when it will die or in what fashion I think you should get the repair done and stop fucking around. Its broken so fix it before you get hurt

Dude heed what people say, their only trying to help. If you want to hear what YOU want to hear try starting your own forum for YESMEN. The Suzuki Tech is trying to line his pockets cause I got a 88 750 motor with a hole under the starter where parts of the tranny tried to escape. It blowed up real good.LOL. We're just trying to give the best advice we can.

Sorry for the rant
