So today i saw this guy riding a brand new CBR riding with no gloves, a t-shirt, and tennis shoes with no socks, but he had a nice new (bike matching) helmet.
So he looks over at me and kinda gives me the 'head nod.' i look at him, point my jacket, then put my finger to my head and give him the 'what the fuck are you thinking' signal. He flips me off and drives away.
So i tell my buddy this story, and i say how fucking retarded it is for people, especially young hormone charged guys, to ride over powered sport bikes with NO gear. And he says, "Adam, gear is expensive. Most of these guys just cant afford it." "Bullshit!" i replied, "to alot of young/older guys, riding in a t-shirt is cool, a style if you will. They think they look badass with their t-shirt flapping in the wind."
My friend says, "yea but when a car runs you over how much protection will a jacket and gloves give you?" i said, "first off, a car doesn't run you over, it runs under you. And secondly im not concerned about a car running under me, im talking about when you fall off your bike and slide across the pavement. if you have a tight fitting jacket, you can easily walk away from the crash minus a few cuts and bruises. If you DO NOT have a jacket on you can easily die from blood loss before anyone can help you.
So what is your guy's impression on the 'no gear' style? do you think its because these geniuses don't have the cash, or do you agree with me that its a style?
Why are we required to wear seat belts? Ive been told by police friends that one reason is because when a cops sees' someones head spread across the freeway it kinda fucks them up emotionally. And of course for our safety.
Shouldn't motorcyclists be required to wear a jacket and gloves when they ride?
