Ok, i have a problem!!! My 92 750 just weighs too much for my 120ibs self. I heard somewhere along the grape vine that gettin rid of the body work will drop a few pounds mostly the Headlight part. I don't have a lot of money with school and rent so i'm lookin for help with a cheap and light alternitive for this!!!! I'd like to keep it around $200!!!! Any help would be great!

Thanks,
Colin

BTW i tried searching but couldn't find anything

Shedding a decent amount of weight that would make a difference can get pretty costly. If you want to test the plastic theory, it won't cost anything but a bit of time to pull the bodywork/fairings off, reattach the turnsignals, and check it out. Do you have the stock exhaust on it still? Aftermarket systems dramatically reduce weight, but more n' $200 dollars.

Man, that thing must fly with only 120lbs on the saddle. I always kid about losing more weight so I can add a couple of ponies in theory. Somebody must have a math formula to calculate that out...

Me, I'm down to 160lbs. and holding. Hit 159 once, but it was back up by midmorning.

You can also remove the lower and mid-panels from the thing and wrap them in a blanket and stick `em in the back of a closet somewhere. ...the steel subframe and passenger-peg brackets can get lost if you don't carry passengers/luggage... and you could swap the upper-fairing/headlight-and-bracket/mirrors to the `88 style setup for about $200 if you're really lucky on eBay...

...but after that, it gets expensive.

If you weigh only 120 lbs and are still called Beef, you must have...big feet.

Do you actively use countersteering to throw your bike around? With a bit of practice you can fling a bike around with ease. Cheaper than titanium bits!

Coinspinner is right... although it's never going to feel like one of the current-generation bikes... on my 1100 I fitted a 750 front-end and run the tubes about 5mm higher in the `trees than OEM calls for, and I fitted a 750 swingarm. I also found that I like the profile of the M1's for their quickness, and I fitted a 60-series front tire in place of the 70-series and that drop in height seemed to have more of a dramatic "quickening" effect than dropping the tubes in the triples did.

The dual-round headlight setup (including the bracket and mirrors and stuff) is WAY lighter than the big, magnifying-glass-thick beadlight bucket that they used on the N models. I didn't weigh them on a triple-beam or anything, but I've had both in my hands and it's a HUGE difference (I'm guessing 5-10 lbs).

...what are you using for a front tire? How old is it? How much PSI?

Your right, that headlight is pretty fuckin sweet!!! now i got a couple more questions for ya!!!! How good does it fit on there? is it just strapped or did ya fit it some way? What cha usin for turn signals and mirrors? I like the diamond and the blitz. Plus they're cheap!!! Thanks for the help!!

As for tires it's got about 1k on it its an Avon something (bikes at my parents house ATM) i think it may just be too hard, if i get another nice day i'm gonna try less psi to see how it works out.

Thanks again for the help!

Yeah I got the Diamond. It's strapped on (no I don't use a strap on) . 4 rubber straps hold it on pretty securely. I made a coupla brakets to mount my signals to my lower triple, and what mirrors?? I'm looking for some bar-end mirrors just to satisfy the law. I got it in Red and had to buy the clear lens kit as I got tired of getting hassled for having red head lights. When I get my camera working I'll get some pic's
