Heya peeps,

I lost second gear.. in my 88 1100...it is there but soon as I rolled on the throttle it would slip into nuetral ... I have now took the motor out last night and took the pan off and there was a litterally about 3 shavings of aluminum in there.. good think I didn't ride after the first time it slipped out.. but now my question is after I crack the case.. how do I tell what is actually gone inside there.. could it be the gear, the shift fork or even the drum ?? any advice please

Thanks again My gixxer

Rimmer, undercutting refers to the cutting of the dogs and receiver grooves on the gears themselves. It allows the gears to be pulled together and interlocked, therefore no more jumping out of gear. Doing this will usually eliminate transmission problems permanently. Don't forget to change the shift fork and drum to make the repair complete. How much for the '92 tranny and what kind of shape is it in? Thanks.
