ok so i was gonna change the fluid in the dampner. made sure i had the correct size little allen wrench. that thing is tiny. it fit perfect and snug. i started to turn it to loosen...that tiny screw totally stripped. i was pissed. the dampner feels like it has good resistance and its not choppy so i guess ill just reinstall it as is. i really wanted to change the fluid though :-(

get an easy out, and remove the screw, then head to sears/home and replace it

Maybe its because my bike is considered a tank to the 04/05 600/750s, but it feels incredibly stable all the time. Going down the road at 200 km/h, taking a bumpy corner while leaned over, never had a tank slapper. Hell, I've even tried to get into a slapper, hasnt happened yet.

Like I said earlier, maybe its just the generation of GSXR I have, theyre known for being ultra stable. Havent bothered with the suspension yet, havent bothered with the damper but right now Im content.

haha my first bike was a 2002 gix 6 and uh you have a stock damper on your 2001 unless you took it off.

its hardly a tank compared to the 04/05's very close to one another actually.

Yep, still the stock damper, and as far as I know its unmodified. I dont remember where I read it, but it was a review done by some magazine and they said that the Gixxers of the era were really stable.

cool..

except mine though, i hit a 2x4 doing 50 on the freeway back when i was a noob and was looking at a passing car.

anyhow it slightly bent my rim but not enough for me to spend $300 on another. from then on i always had a slight headshake always under decel...

hmm longest straight going to turn one... i'm geared -1 but hit the same gear usually stock - i hit 4th sometimes, but usually redline 3rd before the brake marker, so i'd go to 4th for a little bit then back down. so what ever that speed is. 140? but i do slow down WAY to much and use 2nd through the corner. And just barely in the meat. now you see some of my probs right there. over braking and not trusting entry speed.

you'll easily get quicker next year u'll see.

one step at a time young padawan ;)

one word describes it: SMOOTH that is it.
start doing it now.

don't be crazy and be wacking the throttle everywhere, get your shifts in where you can up and down, and brake by slowly releasing.

ya but i watch everyone else and they are holding the throttle later and braking harder.. i know for a fact i can brake harder without overestimating.. and i know for a fact i can hold the throttle later.. but im still getting comfortable even being at the track..

yes and you will get even more comfortable as you go back and have people to pick brains of like all of us at speedtribe. pick someone in your group slightly quicker then u and just stay with him until your just going way to quick for em and move up to the next closest person.

Quick question about this, are there any downsides to putting the 20wt oil in the damper? It would seem that it would make low speed manuevers harder, but since I haven't done it, I'm not sure.
