The guy I bought the bike from put the plate there, he said he's gotten harrassed a few times over it but I've had no problems. But he was also selling the bike because he ran.

it's always a treat to get pulled over as a group. a group ride I was with a few weeks ago got a special tongue lashing by the Lumpkin County Sheriff. He proclaimed that we interfered with him and his constituents getting to church. It was said that more than 6 people called in and reported a huge group of bikes had passed them on double yellows. Our group had only passed two cars in which I'm certain that all of the group had time to pass within the passing zone. We weren't even two miles off of the main highway and not in the prime area of twisties yet. One of the cars was an elderly lady who was flipping us off and cursing us out for no reason at all other than sharing the road. When we came to a redlight she pulled up close to and almost hit our sweeper who was on the shoulder of the road ensuring we had our entire group. The Sheriff ordered the two Deputies to run all of our tags and licenses for causing disturbances in his jurisdiction even if it took all day.

No citations were given, so we'll just call it a pit stop.

Wish we would of had a video camera, the Sheriff's performance was hilarious. Not to mention his small stature added to the overall humor.

today i was in my car i saw a guy with a really nice 2005ish R1. he had his plate tucked under the rear fender, is that illegal? will cops give you a hard time for putting the plate there?
here in iceland the rules regarding the placement of the licence plate are very strange .. only sayes that you haveto be able to read the licence plate 5meters away in at 1 meter hight .. so you know all the biker boys have there plate tucked away under there fender .. and after a few hours of riding its going to get dirty and you wont be able to read it at all ... some use gas to clean the blue color off the plate ..."so you cant read it" then just paint it back when they get called in to inspections ..

the police isn´t happy with the placement like that and they will pull you over and if you dont know the law and correct them and stand your ground they will give you a ticket .. and some of the guys that dont know the law's will pay them ... but there is this one local guy that most know and he has probably read all the books on the law regarding motorcycles and he can quote the law's ... its good to have his phone number ... rule nr 1 never say anything incriminating to the police ... no matter what they say they have on tape they might be bluffing...

i have my licence plate in the normal location.
