You know I started this thread just to see what people thought. You can have your own thoughts but if you don't like the thread go bitch somewhere else. I don't need to know you don't like the thread. Go start your own thread.

i think the kids situation is about finances, the wife/girlfriend situation is about jealousy. independance is your right, if they dont like it ,leave them..........gixxer4life

I was riding before I met my wife to be, then she got into it to and went through the ranks, GPX250, CBR600F, YZF1000R, GSXR1000.

When our kid was born it slowed me down a bit, but now the biggest battle is trying to find the time to sneak a ride in.

I can't help it with the pictures :) So I linked to the thumbnails, clicking them brings up the full size.

The day I bought the TL (7.5 years ago)

Heading off for our 1st overnight trip

On the wifes (now ex) old YZF

He got this at 2.5 :)

My wife, after 18 years of being together, and with 2 kids knows that I'll always have a bike. No matter what. It's a given..

That is a subject not up for discussion in my house..:nono
that's how it should be IMO... if they love you they shouldnt try to take away your passion.

Don't be sorry you started this thread. IMO it is an important topic that many ppl try to avoid because they really are afraid to talk about it. I don't think anybody was offended.

:cursing .....for all the punks on this forum.:mad Some $@#$ are quick to flame for no good reason. That's the first thing I noticed about this forum. :flipoff them. Post whatever you want.

Take care man. :cheers

I think it's a tough call, and a very personal one.

My wife always feel uneasy when I go riding. Even more so after I crashed in May of last year. I walked from the crash without injuries, but she says every time I go riding it's like I am going to the war zone and may not come back.

I always keep this in mind and trying to proactively minimize the risks.

My wife has me well insured, which maybe the reason why she has never had a problem with me riding.

All joking aside, if I didn't ride I would have an hour or so less to see my kids each day. And it doesn't have to be a selfish hobby either; it has given me and my son some great days out attending British Superbike and World Superbike races.

knowing you are just kidding...I do want to say....my husband and I joked like that too.....and he was well insured.....TRUST ME SHW WOULDN't WANT THE MONEY EVER
Greg, deceased...june 20th 2004 on my bike...

Sorry if I caused offence. I'm quite sure she wouldn't want the money, I had an accident in November last year, was hit by a car on a round-about, the bike was a write-off. I was OK, just a few bruises and a broken finger, but it brought the realities of riding home to her.

She understands the convenience and enjoyment of riding, and she has never asked me to stop.

I the UK there is a motorcycle campaign 'Think!' which has some pretty gruesome posters and tv adverts which do seem to trigger conversations with my family and friends about the risks we take.

As someone said earlier we have to try and mitigate those risks.

THis is something I think about too, with talks of having a first kid N a few years.

Might just switch over to trackdays at that point if I don't keep riding or have time for street.

I agree....After my Husband was killed...I continued to go to the Track but, rarely on the street.....

Ugh...Shit...can't really say much...cuz. I just want to ride....
