92/96 Gsxr 1100
Hey folks,

I bought a custome GSXR a year ago. I was told it has a 95 GSXR 1100 motor ( which it does) in a 92 GSXR 750 frame.

The story goes, I pulled up to the stop lights and it died.

Good story ?? not really ha ha ....

Anyway . .with looking and looking . .I finally pinpointed that the CDI/Ignitor/powerbox/Brain BOx ...whatever you want to call it .. .is not sending a signal to the first coil. ( I am pretty sure it uses a magnetic pickup to trigger the coils correct ?? )

The box is a Vance and Crap box and I am told they are junk!

Now for the questions I have for the knewledgeable !!

Does anybody know where to get a good wiring diagram for this aftermarket box and or the orig. wiring Diagrams ... because the dealership said and I quote .. THEY CANT GET THEM .. I am pretty sure hes full of crap .. but . .hey . its possible I guess

Second Does anyone have a stock box kicking around they want to sell me ?? and is it the same for 750's and 1100's ??

Any other info would be greatly needed

Thanx for reading !!

If you have a box you want to sell please e-mail me at jonny102@hotmail.com

Thanx again !

Hi J, welcome to the forum!
A 750 CDI will technically work with the 1100 engine to get it to fire up and run, but the power curve will be all wrong for the 1100 motor so you wont get anywhere near the best out of it. I'd say you want to get one that is for the 1100 WC motor.
As for the wiring diagram, don't pay a dealer anything. I imagine plenty of people here can chime in with a copy of theirs for the OEM from a downloaded PDF manual or something. These manuals can be worth their weight in gold, I'd suggest you download one if you can.. I can't help there though as mine is a 93-95 750 manual.

Wow .. you guys are really helpful!! And thax for the Hellos and welcomes to the forum .. very nice .. hope to be having a couple cold ones with you some day !

I am in Cranbrook BC. If any of you are willing to sell a box for a 1100 I would gladly pay the shipping etc etc. I ebay box's that I have seen pretty scetchy items. I would like to be sure of what I am getting ...

I am sure that the rev limiter was set by the shop that built the motor at 12,000 which I know is hight for a 11,000 but the motor I guess was built with some pretty expensive stuff....so I am told ....I think the 750's rev limited out at what ? 14.500? That wouldnt be bad . I am sure I could keep it under that ...but if the power curve is way off .. which I guess it would be ... that would be crap .. :hammer

So I will stick with finding a good 1100 stock box or something that guys think would be good aftermarket !!

Thanx
J

J: Best thing around for your problem:
Dyna 2000 !!!
You can set different advance maps & rev limiter is adjustable. Also, you can really time 1&4 and 2&3 independantly...
These things are not just bells & whistles, they work!
Also, these are the most reliable for our machines...
Can find them once and a while on e-bay...

Welcome to the board,

I have a 93 750 box, I have been running a V&H box without issue, not sure why so many people have issues. The only major problem I have heard was that they tend to leak. If you have the money get the dyna 2000 I kick myself for selling mine, only because the amount dialing in that can be done.

Dyna 2000 it is !! :cheers

How about his one ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dyna...tem-Drag-Bike_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35594QQihZ009QQitemZ190014776081QQrdZ1

Not bike specific but would it work ?

I see that a new one is about 330 bucks US sound about right ?? Does anyone know where to get it cheaper ?? I am just but a humble poor mechanic :crying

If I cant find one pretty cheap I might still be in need of a stock box .. even a 750 if its the right price .. just to get the bike working ... LET ME KNOW PLEASE !!!:hammer

Thanx all !!:cheers

Yep, Welcome! I bought my '94 in April and have found the folks here to be Very Knowlegeable and Very helpful. As BobbyC says-make sure you get the specific model. The best winning price I saw on ebay-July-was $260.00 for a brand new model. The 2000 sells retail for about $360.00.

im still looking for one myself. when one comes avai. i have no frosties...... speaking of frosties.... where is _EDGE_?

yea i have 2 v&h boxes, 1 is semi broke but can be a spare ( due to me shorting the tach part of it out). works fine for me, had them since 97 no issues. sure they are no where near as good as dyna but 1. they came with the bike, 2 much better than stock ( which is tucked away nicely in storage).
FYI box's are identical except for the chips. which can be removed. I have a 750 extra chip laying around if anyone needs ones/wants a spare.

so you are saying i can put the 1100 chip out of one of the boxes i have into my 750 box? the reason i ask is that the bike will only run with my 750 box. for some reason when i tried either 95 1100 boxes i had, the bike would not start. one box came with the motor and was said to work and the other i bought on ebay, which also claimed to work. i dont know if it is a wiring harness issue or what, but i really want an 1100 box for the rev limiter. i am bad about hitting the limiter!!

oh, how difficult is the chip swap? soldering or plug and play?
