from what i hear the only thing that 06 has on 04 is better mass centralization....i talked to a guy that had his 06 dyno tuned with all the same mods i have and his 06 had 1 more hp and mine had 1 more fpt....so other than paint schemes and blinkers and tail section the bike is just as good from 04-05 to the new 06....maybe even better....i personally don't like the new colors...

I think the power curve on the k6 is very smooth and as such you dont get that kick that makes it feel like its just taken off. Plus the gearing is different ( a bit higher in first to keep the wheel on the deck more)

tuning can do wonders....it did for my 04....and keepin the front wheel on the deck??? i'd hate if my bike didn't power wheelie. it even came up in 3rd my last time at the track.....dyno tuning is the way to go....

the difference in feel when turning in between the k4/k5 and k6 is night and day. The k6 models seem to almost turn by themselves.

Also line both bikes up in a driveway and push them around. The k6 is MUCH MUCH lighter feeling, easier to tip side to side, and easier to push around than the k4/k5...though I think the dry weight numbers of the bikes are very close.

I say this cause I had a k5 750 and now have a k6.

I had my 750 on the track the only mod was a 16 tooth sprocket on the front instead of the 17. It was taking the older 750's on the strait as well as the older 1000s. From what the dyno charts say it is not because of the HP so it most just be the whole package. :cheers The fastest guy at this event was on a CBR600rr.

BTW this was my first trackday. I did win most improved rider for the three day event at Grattan. I am not an expert and I was one of the few virgins there.

i would say that a K4-K5 750
has loads more low down power...& mid range.. and is a better engine
than a new K6 MODEL

He's actually right. I was recently mapping dyno numbers for various Gixxers, and the K4 750 had more power than the K6 pretty much across the board, except the very top. I was surprised to see that, especially given the K6 engine has longer stroke. You'd think it would have more midrange, but it has less.

Yes, I do notice that my 750 seems to turn by itself when taking a corner at low speed. It's as if somebody is pulling on the handlebars into the turn. Anybody know what it is that causes this? It kind of scared me the first time it happend cause I've never experienced it on any other bike.

were they all stock and were they done back to back and on the same day?

(Personally I dont care if bike x has more than bike Y I am more than happy with what I have)

On eof the magazines this month is comparing both.
I do not remember the name (I think it was British) or the specifics, but I read it last week at barnes and Nobles.
I think the K6 was a more complete package and better track bike, the K5 was more fun on the street as it could power wheelie..........it was also a lot cheeaper to buy a new K5. Most of the other numbers seemed really close, so it was more of a feeling thing.

doesnt piss me off although us having 2006 models obviosly pisses you off somewhat! not one bit.. have a nice day ...

What exactly do you base your assumption on? Ownership? dyno runs on standard bikes?? What???:confused
could have had a K6 - went for K5 instead
do not not like the style of new bike... to small

yep fair enough reason for buying what you did, I was the opposite, but

SORRY ... IF THIS PISSES OFF ALL YOU ... K6 OWNERS
on what do you base your statement of the k5 having more power and a better engine?

Seems you have never owned a k6 ( I have not owned a k5 but I am not making the claims), have you ridden one?? Do you have stock dyno comparisons? or is it simply a matter of " I have an 05 so it must be better"?

So come on qualify the statement:cool

I went with the k6 based strictly on looks. I cant argue power numbers or anything else...i just think it looks better.

To each his own...

Blah, Blah, Blah.... "My dick is bigger than you're dick". Who gives a flying fuck. People have different tastes. All in all having ridden both on the track both stock bikes the k6 is stronger in the upper part of the power band and WAY smoother acceleration. You cannot compare the K4-K5 to the K6. They are completely different in the way they're built and the way they ride.
