First of, I'm new to the site, and want to say Hi to everyone!
Raleigh, NC here..

But on topic,

I've searched and searched, and i cannot find a definitive answer.
I'm doing an 01 Front fairing conversion to my 99 GSXR 600...
I'm trying to find out exactly what parts i'll need and what "modifications" i'll have to make...

I know i'll need
01 Front fairing
01 Ram air tubes
01 Headlight
01 windsheild

The 99 headlight harness should work fine right?
What kind of modifications will have to be done to the fairing stay/mirror stay?

And a second issue i'm having at the moment
I bought this 99' with a cut front harness (no connector to the gauges)
i'm having problems trying to get it to start, the lights work, fuel pump engages, and i seem to have electricity. But when i goto start it (kickstand up, clutch in) I get nothing at all.
Is there a known problem i should be looking for?
Thanks in advance for all the help!

well if you were to do that conversion u would have to get new side fairings too. www.btpautoparts.com came out with an actual k2 conversion for srads so you can still keep ur stock side fairings and air ram tubes. all you need to buy is the headlamp...before that came out i did the conversion and theres alot of mods you have to do in order for it to work. so now my bike has all the k2 fairings except the tank. as far as ur starting problems, check your fuses, all of your wiring (make sure nothings grounding out or any loose connections. if thats all good, check ur plugs.

well actually its not that much work at all, it just depends on the amount of youre willing to put into it. first off, i bought all the plastics, nose, sides, air tubes 2k mirrors and headlamp. youre going to have to take off your upper fairing stay and buy the 2k one as well.when you put the upper fairing stay the bolts do not match up, you can only put one bolt in. now you can mount the nose onto the upper fairing stay, the only problem is..you can either fabricate a mount for your gauge cluster or you can just zip tie it to the upper stay fairing. the air ram tubes can go right into the slots but the tabs that connect to the side fairings do not match up so you will have to cut them off. after you put that in, you can put the side fairings on, the nose and sides should be able to bolt right together. after that, theres only one bolt on the lower part of the fairing that you can match up with, so after you put in, then everything should be ok. if you have frame sliders, youre gunna have to cut half cirlcles on the sides where the frame sliders would be. if you dont intend on using frame sliders then you'll be ok, but if you were you will need to cut the half cirlcles or the fairings won't connect to the nose properly. its alot easier then it sounds and its worth it, i never really liked the srad fairings so i pretty much converted everything.hopefully i didnt confuse you.

hi kyle, welcome to GDC!

have you replaced the connector to the guages? are the guages plugged in and working? if so did you do this with the wiring diagram? i'm just trying to think of what it might be. need more info.

Check the clutch saftey switch and kickstand switch..

There actually is no connector to the guages, it was cut off, and im currently searching for a new headlight harness...

That would effect the bike starting?

Did you skip my post, the sub harness should have nothing to do with the bike starting. if the pump is priming and everything lights up but but bike doesnt turn over it might be the clutch saftey switch or the kickstand switch malfunctioning. unplug them and bypass them to make sure they're not malfunctioning.

when i got my bike the previous owner tried to upgrade the gauge to the 2k style and he screwed up to he hacked it off, i replaced it but before that it ran fine w/o the cluster working.

No i didnt ignore your post, i was actually going to go check on that this morning...

Unplugging and bypassing would be connecting the "bridge" manually, or is there another way? Thanks for the help !:cheers

you'd unplug them and stick a wire in them to bridge the plug bypassing the switch. Only way I'm familiar bypassing aside from splicing into the wires and twisting them together.

So are you taking your gauge cluster stay completely off? and just zip tieing the guages to the 01 fairing stay?
Any pictures or anything you could help me out with? thanks bro

so did you figure out what was wrong with the bike.

yea i did, i put the upper fairing stay from a 2k gixxer. ill take pics and post them so you can see what i have done. its prolly a lil ghetto but keep in mind i did this conversion way before btp came out with an actual conversion plus i was too lazy to fabricate any brackets for the gauge cluster
