Always loved the black chrome on the wheels for cars and trucks. Not too much shine but just the right amount to make a statement and command attention. Never thought about doing it to a frame, are you gonna do the wheels too?? Awesome job the bike looks great so far.:thumbup

Thanks guys. It was done in Long Island NY by a place called polish and powder. The owners name is Lou. What is basically done is polishing is done to the aluminium first and then it is powder coated with a transparent color to give it the color chrome effect. I had a 750 with a light green done to it. I always got questions and stares.

The old VFR belongs to my dad. He bought it last year cause he loves the bike. If you guys are serious I'll take some pics for ya.
Yeah or some people call it "Candy" when you translucent powdercoat over chrome too.

My old wheels were powdercoated over polish...it looks reall different...it's like a wet color with a nice shine N it. I had a bunch of parts on my old 600 that were translucent powdercoated. My buddy did mine, if anyone around my are wants it done PM me.

Looks good Jose, can't wait to see her done.

That looks sick. I can't wait to see it all put together to get the full effect.

How much did that run you? If you don't mind me asking of course! :thumbup

Honestly I got a serious discount cause I used to work for Lou and I still go by and help him out when I have some spare time. I truely don't know what he charges the rest of the public. Its just one of those things I never felt comfortable asking.

When I was a kid my dad tried to teach me on one but I almost ran it into the back of a parked car. He got rid of it not to long after and has always wanted one there after. He found it on it ebay for a good price and decided to buy it. Although he still hasn't ridden it he refuses to get rid of it :)

looks amazing, now get the fuck off the computer, and go finish the bike :D :D

btw, what did that cost your

Almost done, I have to finish the sub-frame tomorrow and the bike will be all done. I have some pics of the upper and side fairings on, but I have to finish the tail end of the bike. The only thing is that I need to repaint the tank cause I have a blue one and the color scheme is the silver. I figure screw it for the rest of the season cause I have a surgery scheduled for the 28th of this month and I don't want to be without the bike the week before surgery. I'll have pics of the bike together tomorrow so you guys will see what she will look like before the tank is painted.

I havne't ever done it, but i was wondering: all you guys that polish - how come no one ever clear-coats after polishing ?? i'm on some other lists where guys will polish the older bikes and then clear-coat so that the polish job stays nice and is washable.

(por-15.com was one place mentioned for clear, i think)

Anyway, isn't chrome a metal plating? Ok, I know it is, I'm just busting chops because it's not black chrome. It's translucent black powercoating. You can get the translucent colors for the home coating kits too from www.eastwoodco.com.
It looks fucking fantastic but please, for the love of bikes, don't go around telling people it's black chrome.
