I always slide the fork tubes out first. The upper triple should almost just lift off after you do thid. There is always some pressure on the upper triple from the tube and as you have a 1100 the clip-ons too. I learned a long time that you do not save any time by leaving the tubes in the lower triple. I always slide the tubes down even if I'm only pulling the upper clamp. If it still will not come off I use a plastic "Dead Blow" hammer. It will not mar the alloy.
