The tach on my 92'1100 wanders/bounces around once I get past 6000 rpm. I have Accel coils and Dyna ignition sys. It was never that accurate before the aftermarket parts either. I have checked all connection, and the the bike runs well, so I know it is not wired wrong. I heard a rumor that the tachs are just plagued by a wander needle. Anyone heard of this or know a fix?

The tach needle on my '87 1100 developed a 'bounce' in the 4000-6000 range after I foolishly thought I could clear the dust from the inside of the lens with compressed air. Luckily, this condition corrected itself after a few thousand miles.
