How long should you wait to mod you bike? Ive got 400 miles on my k7 600 and wanted to get exhaust, but i heard that if u mod your bike too soon it can damage the engine. I didnt plan on doing the exhaust for a few more months atleast, depending on what you guys think. thanks

wait after your break in service for any engine mod, that would be my advice. everything else it s totally up to you.
Ditto
ok thanks guys, that was the plan
Double ditto...figure you would like to be able to do a dyno run or map it after the exhaust, so gotta be ready for high power runs. But go to town on the cosmetics and suspension in the meantime. :)
also make sure you mod yourself with high grade leather
its a matter of who you ask...some poeple like to baby it and some guys break them in hard.

Just read what this guy has to say. You either belive him or you dont.

I say immediately, if you want a new pipe...go for it.

I did the "easy" break in on my 600 and the "hard" break in on my 1k. I was at redline in first gear when i hit the 200 mile mark. I changed the oil at 50, 100, 200 and 600 miles.

Some people say wait until you have thousands of miles before you swap to synthetic oil, some people say do it after a hard break in run...at around 50 miles or so.

It is your bike and it is up to you...but if i were you, if i wanted a new pipe, i would throw it on there. I put the M4 on my 600 after about 60 miles and the Yosh on my 1k around the same mileage with no problems with either.

This guy knows what he is talking about. I followed his break in procedure for my built motor in my car. 20,000 miles later the motor has perfect compression across the board. I did the same with the bike:)
falcon i did the same with a fully built engine and she's fine
Ive got the gear already, just need to get a back protector.

I havent changed my oil and Im at 400 miles. F**king owners manual said I should wait till the 600 mile mark for the first service. should I change it 2morrow then?
Yes.

Change it tomorrow. If you wanna change it again at 600, go for it...but i would change it now.
Ride the bike within your comfort zone until you are comfortable. It doesnt matter when you put the mods on. DO what you want your not going to hurt anything.
^ +1
I am still riding within my comfort range cuz this thing still scares me a little. fast cars are one thing but something about bikes...
I just wanted a different sounds, im not a big fan of the stock exhaust.

Thanks guys i'll change the oil right now
