so i want a new sprocket to help me get wheelies up easier. I hardly ever take the bike over 120 so top speed loss is not a big deal. Anyone have any recomendations for brand and size?

get a 520 chain conv. I did -1 and +3 in the back. back is titan tough sprocket from sprocket specialists from is Vortex. I got my stuff from Calsportbike.com. Todd is the owner of that shop you can e-mail him he is really helpfull with stuff and can get you a good deal on the whole kit.

No, no... +3 and -2 with a 520 chain. This setup will though, put a lot of torque on the tranny and chain. It'll come up mad easy though... if you want to get really crazy... you can always get a -4 and +5. Stock is 16/44...

ok so I dont know crap about sprocket size and chain size. Obviously + and - are the number of teeth added or subtracted by their respective sprockets, but why does adding more(or less) to the rear sprocket aid in torque? I mean one of you says -1 +3 and the other says +3 and -2.
also is there any setup where i can still use my stock chain? Im not trying to do an 12 oclocks or nuthin, I just wanna pull it up nice.

so you don't know anything about how gearing works on a motorcycle yet you want to start changing stuff just to wheely? how bout you learn to ride the bike first, maybe get to know the mechanics of it a little better? Wheely a stock one first, then start changing shit.

99 750 stock front +3 in the rear.
Higher(+) in the rear will gear you down same as going (-) down in the front. Both gear you down.

I like it better than stock, but would like to know what -1 down in the front would feel like. Real hard to get people to give you what you are looking for on here, all have different styles and opinions. I am like you don't want the high speeds, just better wheeling ability. +3 feels ok but, must go farther.
I say definately get you some different gears, it is just up to you to decide where you want to go with them.
I don't feel +3 in the rear was far enough, I can still hit 150 like nothing.
I will be changing mine -1 tomorrow, I will let you know if I have gone to far..but i doubt it will be....later

hey thanks a lot for the help. i figured that adding in the rear would have the same effect as subtracting from the front, because the rear is larger. Im assuming this config. works with your stock chain? also what brand sprocketareyou using? Thanks

If you have a stock chain you have 530. You can get sprockets for a 530 chain.

Sprocket Specialist or vortex are really good brands. If you get a sprocket, then make sure its steel and not aluminum.

hey thanx for the help.... azzhoollleeeee
But what happens when a cop sees you doing it and you need to run? if you go bigger in the back the cop might be able to keep up with you!

my 96 comes right up with just throttle with stock gearing and a 530. Learn to ride first, then wheeling will be easy, regardless of your gearing. Maybe check out the stunters forum. They'll have better advice

If your just doing wheelies on the street you don't really need to change anything, if you're thinking of riding in the lot then don't dobit in that 1000.

I have a 2004 gsxr 750.. I went to a 16-44 sprocket—- stock is 17-42... 1st gear comes up easy obviously at about 28mph.. 2nd I have to clutch it up at 45 mph and 3rd gear I try to clutch it n bounce it and it don’t wanna come up. Aprox 65mph...Only about a foot if that. Just sharing my experience. I wanna get her up on the freeway in 3rd so ima thinking I’ll swap out again. But in reality it’s got nice top-end and has nice torque out of a dig.
