Wheel Sensor in the way of the front stand

How about a head lift stand?

I have the pit bull stand and I shift the stand a little to the right so the lifter bushing misses the sensor. It’s not centered/symmetric, but there is plenty of engagement.

I have a 2018 1000R and I use an Oxford front stand with a similar design. I just cut the lug closest to the sensor down in length so it doesn’t interfere with the sensor but still supports the fork leg.
This way I won’t accidentally damage the sensor when I’m not paying attention.

I do exactly as ti-6-4 does. I also use Pit Bull. Just shift the stand to one side so that the rubber lifter clears the sensor.

I imagine this mainly serves to lift the bike. How about if you are working on the bike and need to remove the front wheel?

Best option is a pitbull hybrid front lift that lifts from the steering stem.

Yeah it barely makes it. I didn’t think I could take the wheel off either so I used the pin stand instead. I suppose if you cut the shift side of the pitbull stand it would clear it enough to take the wheel off. Or take the sensor off each time.

The strap hoist is a lifesaver when you're doing head bearings and steering stuff. Pitbull makes a nice stand set to lift by the frame sliders as well, I may actually purchase them. I saw them at my local dealer and thought huh that's actually great.


Would make head bearing work a jiffy on a lift or out of your own garage. Otherwise for tire changes or warmers, the bottom of the fork style lifters are usually easiest, since the head lift can get in the way of removing the wheel a bit.

The strap/hoist will also pick up the rear end.

I have a DMP headlift stand but got nervous about it scratching things while being inserted. So I removed the pin and slid some rubber tubing over the tube that the pin sits in. Now all I have to worry about is the pin itself. I think the PitBull stand also does that. Most stands are fine in the garage but clunky when rolling over asphalt. Woodcraft uses 5" wheels to greatly reduce that.

I used to have a variety of stands (under fork, under headstock, Rear on bobbins, rear on swingarm)

Then I got wise!

An Abba superbike stand with front lift arm works great on my Gixer and, with an adaptor kit, also fits my 2 classic race bikes

Simple to use, takes up little space both in use and in storage - highly recommended

Their sky lift looks good too - but I haven't tried it...

Seems like a good way to accidently bust a sensor. Yet another reason to hate ABS.....

+1 for the head lift stand.

I haven’t had any issues with my pit bull stand. Only issue I have is forgetting to undo the sensor before I start taking the wheel off.

Actually they all have the sensor there. I purposely bought the non abs model and mine still has the front wheel speed sensor. Just some info for you. It is a terribly stupid place to put it though.

^^^ F-ing serious? Wiring fatigue, exposure, this front stand fuckery, etc. I can think of a ton of reasons not to put it there. I'm assuming that's for the speedo then?

Still, they could have at least put it between the caliper bolts. Give it some protection.....

I just found this. Like I said- you could cut the peg that interferes with the sensor or just buy this from pitbull.
