what\'s faster \'98 750 or 89 7/11? (straightline)

so my brother's building a 7/11 and we're having this argument about who'll be quicker in a straight line. He thinks an old 1100 motor in an '89 750 frame will be faster than my 98 750. What do you guys think?

The 1100 should pull you,but it depends on what sprocket size you both have, and how much you guys weigh..

Unless there is a major diff in your weights and so long as the 11 part of the 7/11 is in reasonable shape, he will pull you in a straightline run. Now all bets are off if you're doing a proper drag race, given that its the rider in most cases.

The old 750 chassis is quite light and the 1127 motor has shitloads more torque than your 750, so if you are both geared stock, it shouldn't be too much of a contest. Kind of like apples and oranges, really.

I look forward to this race in the summer. Provided that the motor I am dropping in is all Kosher, I look froward to leaving him at the strip and the highway.

My motor is stock except for pipe/jet-kit and the 1000 was all-OEM. Assuming equal rider skill, in a straight-line, my money is on the oiler.

I went 10.14 @ 138mph when I had my 7-11,but it did have a air shifter/1100 arm/36mm flat slide carbs..

On a friends 99 750 I went 10.60 @131mph all stock with just a slip on..

But from a second gear roll on, I would walk him..

If the 1100 is piped and jetted it will take the 750. Might be a close race though.

That just puts things into perspective. It'll make things more interesting, that's for sure.

Thanks for posting the times, that helps!

Hmmm....I posted a question like this on SBN and most people were saying the newer 750 would win. Then again, I mentioned a 7/11 vs an 01 750 FI.

That would be a lil closer but roll-ons are about all out brute torque and hp so I'll have to give it to the 7/11.
