Is their any real reason you need to know the exact year anyway? In any case if it is a 86-88 1100 motor it will say 1052 at the base of the cylinder, if it is a 89-92 motor it will say 1127, pull the valve cover off and see if it has screw adjusters for the valve train 91 and 92 are the only year they had shim's instead of the screw type adjusters. hope this helps you alittle

Check for the capacity mark as stated and take some pics and post them. I would have thought engine numbers would be able to be used to id year, as the sticky says engine and frame numbers. Post the number and I am sure you'll get your answer.

I just wanted to know mostly out of curiosity. I wondered if it was a 1052 or 1127. Do they all use the same oil filter and what is the best oil? thanks for your help

I'm having an issue as well which may be solved by identifying the year of manufacture of my 2 1100 engines

I have U707-107189on my chosen engine to use, Im checking the cam timing because the top end was apart, but the previous owner wasnt sure of the timing being correct, it has a factory pro adjustable rotor for advancing the timing, however, after calling factory they informed me that there are 4 stock ignition rotors that were used, not knowing the year im not sure where to set the rotor(adjustable) to be sure the cam timing is correct.

where do i go from here

according to ronayers website the crank is the same from 93-98

the 4 different rotors must be for cali/non cali, or different countries with different timing, his site doesnt show rotors for ignition timing
