See if y’all can solve me this:
Cleaned carbs.. great.
the FLOOD began. Initial thoughts. Needle seat o rings? Needle seats didn’t “click” when I forcefully pressed em back in...ok
Didn’t adjust my floats at all. Could be it... BUT leaning towards other things BECAUSE— it hydrolocked, I removed plugs, flushed it out etc. no internal damage because it ran like a gem when I started it up again. IT RAN WELL WITH THE PETCOCK OFF. I TURN IT ON WHILE ITS ON... Boom flooded bogs out. Probably would hydrolock again!
what do you guys/gals think??
I won’t give up until this thing runs well.

Petrol tap\petcock, replace or fit new kit to it.
Keep in mind that this model has a fuel pump built into the bottom of the gas tank. That adds another element to the simple broken petcock problem. What do you think?
Well aware of pump fitment ( own 3 srads ). If the petcock is working no fuel can flow when not running or being turned over. If the petcock allows too much fuel in it floods\hydro locks etc. Petcock is a cheap fix\ or check its functioning properly.
Okay. Thank you for input. OEM PETCOCK is much different and more $$ than the generic red twist that I have currently from other owners.
so you’re thinking the PETCOCK isn’t working properly thus the over supply of fuel? This may show my lack of experience but wouldn’t the float needles be able to counteract the excess fuel.. if that were the scenario?
Thanks
Sam

Another clarification that might make a difference. The PETCOCK when turned off does a great job of stopping fuel from passing through it. Would you still suspect it be that with that said? Thanks
Petcock works on vacuum, there should be no on off.

If its flooding nothing is going to stop it? as per your first comment.
Investigate issue and repair as required.
I attached a link to the exact one I am using on my bike. Pretty sure it’s For a f$&king lawn mower. Here it is :

hey there.
ordered new seat o rings. Viton 6mmID x2mm. Believe that’s correct size. Let me know if you have info off the top of your head. Appreciate this help more than u realize.
as far as petcock goes... look at what I sent sradmad600 earlier in this thread. Pretty much a lawn mower style. Don’t think that had a diaphragm to create vacuum.. what do you think? Seems like junk that could be causing the flooding perhaps. I went and ordered an original petcock.

when you say tap each needle seat o ring what do you mean. Thanks for the knowledge

Sam
Ron Ayers, partzilla, etc.. oem is so damn expensive. $60 for new needle seats. Crazy! Might wait and test out my o rings I ordered and then go from there with oem $.

you think new fuel lines from tank to petcock to carb rail is worth it? What makes the oem ones so good?

gonna adjust float height. 8mm I think is factory setting. Not super experienced doing the floats... any tips to get an accurate measure to make sure it seals right?
Thanks
Sam
Cheap&nasty, does not belong on your bike. Will cause you problems. Twistedmister is also very knowledgeable on srads.
As I’m looking at this cheap petcock, it’s connecting 2 fuel lines. 1 going from fuel pump to petcock and then petcock to carb.
Is the oem petcock going to be the same attachment? Aren’t there vacuum lines involved? Thanks
Pics should help with position of pipe.
Thank ya! fuel pump hose attaches where?
Center of carbs, black connector tube ( push pipe onto).
The petcock sits just below the fuel pump, correct? The placement is foreign to me since I’m used to the aftermarket junk
Center of carbs, black connector tube ( push pipe onto).
Sorry to keep nagging you like this but hey not everyday I stumble upon this info!
my fuel line is separated between 2 different lines that ultimately go from pump to carb. halfway is where the bad petcock is. I think oem is different length gas line
Center of carbs, black connector tube ( push pipe onto).
Alright I’ve misunderstood some basic info. This is the fuel line(s), yes it looks like an S shape. The green hose. I have a vacuum petcock bolted on fuel pump ALREADY. not sure of functionality, new one ordered anyway. Point is... why the hell is there a red cut off that separates the lines. MAYBE the prior owner didn’t have a long enough line... I am now lost. Should I leave red tap open since petcock is vacuum is provided on fuel pump tap? Started to lean more towards the floats being stuck/bad

is # the fuel line? Will it reach all the way from fuel pump to carbs?

Yes, when you fit your new petcock you will only have two, main fuel line and vacuum. Fit new pipes.
Set floats to 8mm and it runs awesome!
//fuel pump is leaking. probably the gasket?
Seems to be the only things that’s giving me trouble now.
Bike ran awesome then just turned off and won’t spark. Cranks over fine. Any idea?

Not quite sure what it could be. Everything was working well for 30 minutes. Isles GREAT. Super responsive.
just did floats 8mm
Carbs are clean
Pump is working
// I think it may be fuel related. Sounds like there’s no spark at all. Cranks fine. Does that mean it’s lean? Maybe do idle screws? So used to it being flooded. Thanks for any help.
