What a difference two \"clicks\" makes !

I had a feeling my K5 was set-up a bit soft for me (205 lbs). I took the forks down two clicks and it made all the difference in the world, like a totally different bike in the canyons.

I am about your same weight. The sag should be setup with you on the bike but if you wanted to try somthing here is what I ended up with.

Front
Preload 4 lines showing
Rebound 1 click out from full
Compression 13 clicks out from full
8 mm of fork showing

Rear
Preload 1.5 turns out from max
Rebound 6 clicks out from full
Compression 10 clicks out from full

Thanks rraiderr,

I used your setup. Going out for a ride right now, I'll post some feedback when I get back.

Nice, bike feels a lot more stable at big lean angles. Rear is perfect!

The front is pretty much stock. I'm thinking 3 lines pre-load and stiffen 2 clicks on both comp and rebound.

Are those settings for track or street?

If you encounter bumpy roads be careful with those rebound settings up front.

I tried the same setting and allthough it was alot of circumstances behind my lowside in a very bumpy corner, I suspect the stiff rebound I had did cause my fork to pack on me and therefore leading to the loss of control.

Just a thought.

Im waiting for two of my friends to come over so I can set up the sag on my 05. Its good to see that the stock suspension is working well when adjusted correctly.

Re: What a difference two \"clicks\" makes !

I love the stock set up on my 05. It fits perfect for road/canyon use. I weight about 220 with full gear. It is a little soft, but it works great.

If I was to mess around with the suspension, I would go to Santa Ana, make an appointment with Race Tech and have them do my set up
.

That's what I did on my 01 748s.

Are there any guides or links one could read about suspension setup, like Cause & effect of each setting? Whats good for what. I believe it would help alot of people that have no clue about suspension setup, Someone such as myself!

I think I need to soften up my rebound damping, cuz I do feel some packing and harshness.
