Very interesting... Seeing as im a Eagles fan i think its a good addition. He can sit behind McNabb and co. Learn, run some trick plays and not be counted on to contribute as a starting QB.

1.6 million for the first year,
5.2 for the second year.

Good money for someone right out of prison:lol

That is stupid money for a guy that played his last full season three years ago and has a passer completion of about 50%. His talent was his feet and his speed has gone the way of the dinosaur. I think he may be a decent in the wild cat but he's going to slip into obscurity and that's a LOT of money for a QB who was never really that good to begin with. Almost as funny as when Blankenship gave him a 100mil+ contract a while back. People thought I was crazy when I said that was the dumbest move ever. I'll try not to break my own arm patting my back.

Thats funny because 4-5 years ago teams would have killed to get the 3time Pro Bowl QB Vick. 50% completions and all. The dude is a threat as soon as he walks on the field. 1.6 mill is not that much money considering the league avg is around 800K. Considering the Eagles just lost their 2nd string QB, this is a solid move. He get his second chance. And gets to learn and not be throw in to the fire... "yet"
Cards are paying on backup Leinart contract worth up to 50 Million, 15 guaranteed. Same as Titans paying possibly 3rd string Vince Young 58 M, Derek Anderson is getting 24M over 3... bla bla bla teams spend money

Vick by next year barring any set backs off the field could easily be a starter again. Your a fool if you don't think hes been training and preparing. Hes been playing football his whole life and was lucky enough to be blessed with god givin talent that just doesn't disappear. It will take time for him to get back in to football shape and adjust to the speed of the game and all the little things. but hes a football player and will bounce back.

Eagles will get Vick's first year contract back in merchandise sold. Bet that!

Yeah, that guy Vick is amazing. How many playoff games has he won in all his years of domination again?

The fact of the matter is that speed deteriorates with age. He was not as much of a threat three years ago as he was four or even five so what makes you think with almost three years passing since he took a snap in the NFL that he will be better than he was? He may have kept up with cardio and weights somewhat (nothing compares to NFL training) his decline will have been magnified by all of this. I don't disagree with it being a fair risk for one year at $1.9mil but that second year at $5.2mil could prove to be painful once this season passes and we all see first hand how limited Vick will be as a NFL QB. He will not start in the NFL again and I feel for the team that has MV as a starting QB because they're on their way to the #1 pick of the draft.

You really think they'll make $1.6mil profit on Vick sales the first year? That's a stretch and even if they do there's no way in HELL they will clear $5.2 the second year. I think they'll be lucky to net a few hundred thousand in actual profit on his merchandise total. People aren't going to rush out to buy his stuff until they can see what he can do and based on that people will decide to invest in more McNabb merchandise because Vick was well on his way to being a has been even before this all went out. Funny how quickly people seem to forget that. I would have signed him to a year at the league minimum but in all honesty the only reason I would do that is if I was in a smaller market and needed the attention because not only are his skills questionable he may be just enough of a distraction to make matters worse and tear a team apart.

+1 It's an awful move and he is way overrated. Good athletes don't always make good quarterbacks. And trick plays? Don't you think if comes in to run the wildcat or something that other defenses are gonna know he's getting the ball on a bootleg or something?? I mean the guy hasn't been in the NFL since 2006 for Christ sake. Not to mention all the media bullshit. The last thing this team needs is a huge distraction like this circus. They let Dawkins go but pick up Vick? That's a fucking joke.

You guys are pretty simple if you think your going to make it TO the league and stay there, START and make pro bowls if you can't QUARTERBACK in some shape or form.

Falcons went from 5-11 in 00'
7-9 in 01 ROOKIE YEAR : 01
9-6 Playoff Birth : 02
5-11 with VICK INJURED : 03
11-5 VICK's back REACHED NFC Championship : 04

See a trend here??? Vick makes things happen. No hes no Payton Manning or Drew Brees, but hes a threat because he can throw, he has great feet, and is very elusive. Don't give me the weak ass how many rings / playoff games has he won stuff. Many greats have never won a superbowl. So i guess Marino is a bum. So is Jim Kelly... How many playoff games has Carson Palmer, Tony Romo, Drew Brees won?

1.6 Million in merchandise, yea I'd say that's easy... People were saying the same shit about Kobe when he got accused of rape. The majority of people who are all butt hurt about this Vick and dogs thing are not avid football fans. But maybe lil timmy's mom wont buy him a jersey, but you can bet you will be seeing a ton of his shit.
Second year deal is teams option. I doubt you will see him there next year. They will shop him or he will be out of the league again. Some point next year Vick will start again.

Vick's not a problem in the locker room as of yet... Thats where problems are had, players dealing with off the field shit is just that. Vick is no T.O. crying and starting rumors about other players. Giants pressed on when Plaxico had his OFF FIELD issues.. Browns sucked and pressed on when Lewis had his OFF FIELD issues... These guys aren't High School kids...

Eagles dropped a lot of players, Dawkins by far should be a tool used until he cant walk any more. He was more of a leader and motivator than he was a great player. But the NFL is a business. Hence Farve on the Jets, Montana on the Chiefs, Rice on the Raiders etc etc... Young mans game.
And its not always the teams, im a huge Dawkins fan, he was offered a contract... And he choose more money in Denver.

You're right man. What was I thinking. I guess me, most of teh people in this thread and ALL of the other teams in the NFL are high for thinking Vick is a has been. I can't believe NFL team owners weren't lined up outside of the pen to pick him up and cart him to their facility to ink him for a $100mil contract. :dissapointed

I think the 1.6mil was a good call on price, not to high, but not as low as some other teams probably offered him.

Falcon to an Eagle....... LOL, he stayed in the bird family thats for sure, Maybe next yr he will go to the Cardinals:lol

There were actually 7 teams negotiating for Vick.
Tony Dungy is co-signing for him, listened last night to NFL talk snf it sounds like a majority of the players wanted to see Vick back. Could be the guys on NFL network dont know what they're talking about. Or the members on GTC... Hmmmmmm

7 teams my ass. And how is Dungy co-signing for his ability? That's the ONLY thing I'm questioning and Dungy and the NFL Network know NOTHING about this and unless he found the fountain of youth in a federal prison then it's just reality and how life work. Vick won't prove me wrong because he can't. When you get older you realize these sorts of things.

He has no chance of proving you wrong. He's only being used in options like the wildcat, maybe running back, reciever, ect... QB is only if BOTH other QBs get injured.
