A 19-year-old man died trying to break into a home in Kearns. He was shot by the homeowner...homeowner reported someone rang the doorbell of his home around 1:30 Monday morning. He investigated, didn't see anybody and went back to bed.

Then around 3 a.m., he and his wife began hearing noises near the family room downstairs, so armed with a handgun he went to check it out.

Hutson said, "As he was looking outside his sliding glass door, there was a person there trying to make their way in the sliding glass door with some sort of a tool."

Startled, police say the father of two young girls fired one shot at the glass door. When Poulton ran away, the homeowner called 911 to report the attempted break-in.

When police arrived, they found Poulton about 50 feet from the home, dead in the street.

A local attorney and author believes the homeowner will not be charged with a crime.

The author of the book "The Self Defense Law of all 50 States" says an intruder doesn't have to be in the home to open fire. Vilos says the burglar just has to be trying to get into the home.

Is it Taurus that makes those handgun/shotgun combos? :lol
Yup. It's called The Judge. Nice little weapon. The .45 Colt rounds are quite manageable but the .410 loads are a real knuckle buster! :lmao

In Iowa, doing that will get you thrown in jail if the cop is in a bad mood or you are in an anti-gun local. Also, you can be liable for civil suit. Welcome to the state I live in. :banghead

It's hunting counterpart....unlike the 12 gauge tactical one above this one is only .410.

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2009/10/19/kbps-new-mts-225-tactical-revolver-shotgun/

The MTs-255 tactical shotgun is a 5-shot weapon and is designed around the revolver principle. The cartridge cylinder swings out to the left for loading/unloading. It can be fired either double-action (a long pull of the trigger both cocks and fires the weapon) or the hammer can be manually cocked for single-action firing. A heavy duty, single-strut metal side-folding stock is fitted, which pivots around a conventional style revolver pistol-grip and lies alongside the right side of the gun when in the folded position. Sights are described as 'open', but a length of Picatinny-type sight rail is fitted to the top of the receiver for the mounting of other sighting devices. The butt-plate, pistol-grip and fore-end are all constructed of high-impact polymer for durability and corrosion resistance.

dont like being shot to death?
dont break into other peoples houses.
That's the truth right there. Amazing how some people simply don't get it. They'll drag you into court for killing their reprobate relatives all day long. As if it weren't enough that they're scumball son/brother/father weren't trying to steal from you in the first place, then the family thinks you deserve to have everything stolen from you in court.

Juries, too, although they seem to get it right most of the time.

Even if you win in court, you're going to pay through the nose in lawyer's fees just to defend yourself. And if found innocent? You don't get that money back. Ever.

Just have to be glad you and your loved ones are still alive.
