Used 2004 GSX-R 1000 Buyer Questions

Hello,
I was offered to buy a 2004 GSX-R 1000 with a little over 7000 miles and change on the clock. I've only ever owned KTM's and Aprilia's. I was curious what to be on the lookout for with these bikes? An older gentleman is selling it who is "not into riding" anymore and he admits the bike has been sitting for some time in his garage. I've made peace with putting on new tires but, in general, what should I be alert for? Thank you for reading, englisch is not my mother language.

Gixan will know more about what to look for on K4's. I'd look carefully inside the tank for rust as a new main fuel pump filter is $300. Next what mods does it have? This could be turn signal modification/removal, fender eliminator, aftermarket exhaust, rearsets, power commander, chain & sprocket, etc. etc. Is the bodywork original or has it been replaced, presumably because of a fall. Was it raced? Any road rash on engine covers that would happen in a fall. But these are things that apply to KTM's and Aprilia's so you ought to already know about them. It would be nice if you could measure the compression but, at 7000 miles, it ought to be fine. What's the general condition of the bike, i.e. has he kept the engine & radiator clean. Is the chain rusty? Is the air filter a Suzuki part? Does he have a maintenance log? Any strange sounds or warning lights when you start it?

"englisch is not my mother language" So you've snuck across the border from South America or Canada, eh? Just teasing!

All I know for certain for modifications is a yoshimura undertail exhaust and possibly a power commander. He said these mods were installed by the dealership, which is gone and replaced by a new business. The wheels are chrome aftermarket but he has the originals, this is all I know for certain. Thanks Bill!
Chrome wheels sounds like it was solely used on the street. AFAIK, Yoshimura offered a high exit but not a true undertail. There would have been space/clearance issues. I'd be inclined to remove a power commander if it's there.

P.S. I forgot to mention that failed stators and/or R/R's are not uncommon on all Suzuki's of this era.
