My transmission is whining in the upper gears, 4th, 5th, 6th. It also whines in the lower gears but not as bad.
Is this normal? I really never paid attention before, but I can hear it when I'm slowly cruisin along.

slowly cruising in 4, 5, or 6? thats prob why. low rpm on a tall gear = bogging and lagging...

SAME HERE. My tranny will kinda whine, or whirl, when slow rollin in a high(er) gear. Its jus the gear you are in at such an unagressive speed........

Everything works fine. Just sounds like a 65 chevy truck with a 3 spd. on the column

I guess I'll just go faster so I don't here it!!

I'm pretty sure its from the straight cut gears we have. In a car, they're cut at an angle so they don't whine. Its like the sound from a gear driven supercharger.

Someone told me they used to use huge straight cut gears for air raid sirens!!!

my first gear sounds alittle whiny when i let off at high rpm's other than that i dont hear a whine..funny i didnt hear a whine at all with my other motor
