I am looking for a decent torque wrench and I have had my eye on the Halfords professional one for a while now which is £50. I am not sure what scale it goes up to, but do you think it would be ok for most things?
I haven't taken the engine out yet and I hope I don't but I am doing up a scooter to sell and I need to do some major work on my brothers bike which I am giving him, so it wll pay off.
Which brands do you guys use?

yes I also have a cheapo argos item and it does the job fine for me
.

Just make sure that you get a low end one that starts on low lb's as some don't start until way up the scale and therefore aren't suitable for motorbikes.

use the 50 quid halfords one myself and never really had any bother with it. like andy said though it doesn't go quite low enough for some of the of the lightly tightened bolts. think from the top of my head it's range is about 8Nm-65Nm so again for some of the tighter jobs like the clutch boss you have to do a bit of educated guessing. overall not bad though

have a look at this for more info:

Yes, I was looking at that too. I was looking at the link Oosya Daddy provided (thanks) and there are some cheaper ones in there. I don't mind spending £50 on one because I will use it so I think I will get the halfords one.

Thanks for all your input guys
