Hi guys,

let me start by saying thank you, to all the member on this forum. Without whom i would neven have tried in vein to fix my GREMLIN K7 600.

Before i get flamed for not searching... I did look! so lets not get our flame on.

So i love my GSXR-600 its comfy, looks good, and rides well. But i have had to many issues. so it has to go. I cant trust her any more. :crying

So please please please, guys let me know of any common faults on the K9 1000. I cant have more Reg/Rec faults and dead batteries.:banghead

any input from you guys will help very much. Thx

Just curious, did you ever relocate the rectifier on your K7 600 and/or upgrade to a mosfet rectifier?

Here is the UK. i Cant get a MOSFET R/r unit. I have seen the MOSFET units you guys fit in the US.

But I first took it to a dealer they put an OEM one in. that fried after a while.
got an aftermarket one installed .. few months that fried too... Lastly a few weeks ago, I installed an aftermarket uprated (big ass allie backed heat sink unit) and the bike died again in the traffic today. So not a great year on my K7.

So so so over that K7 600

But on the upside... the wife is happy for me to buy another bike. Happy days!

So no to relocating the rectifier. Yamaha uses mosfet rectifiers on their bikes so it can't be impossible to get in the UK.

I'm guessing you are determined to buy a new bike so, the only issue I have heard of with the K9 is the master cylinder just like most GSX's.

Bypass the kickstand kill switch.

Delete the cat.

Add filter plus fuel controller of choice.

Delete set and pair valve.

There is a recall on the master cylinders.

Samantha it's a major issue on these bikes that can create some scary moments. There was a recall on these as well on the k9 if you didn't know. Most just bypass the sensor. Who needs it anyway?

If there is a recall, then take advantage of it instead of disabling it.

I cant say i like the sound of disabling the kick stand SW. once or twice without thinking i have kick my bike into gear and the bike dies... OH YES, the kick stand!

After spending a lot of time running through the GSXR1000 K9-10 forum i dont see many problems. head over to the K6/K7 600/750 section and on every 2nd page there is a R/r issue/charging issue etc.

so the K9 1000 looks like a good bike so far. I swear i will never touch another gixxer if the K9 1000 has loads of issue with it.

I do spend 40 mins in London traffic every morning and afternoon , and as you all know the gixxers run warm in traffic. Do you think the 1000's are better suited? the 600's have 1 Rad fan, and i belive (correct me if i am wrong) but the 1000 have 2 Rad fans?

I bought a buddies K9 that he got as a dealer demo back in 2010 with 1400kms on it. He has had the kickstand loosen up a couple of times & it killed the motor, but the dealer had a recall where it upgraded & locktited the new bigger bolts. As for the m/c I have the parts on order & its a free replacement of course.
The bike is really fast once revved out, (if you aren't used to fast bikes )& esp/ since I removed the cat. I have read if you tamper with the redline much past the factory limit you can damage the bottom end of the motor (crank). Other than that, nice bike.

If I spent 40 min in traffic, I would get a M109, not a Gixxer. Dreadful waste of a good sport bike.

Man that M109 is a butt ugly machine!

But yes, I do spend time in traffic each day. but come the weekends, the boys and I try to get out when we can.

not a waste when I have a big smile on my face when out on weekend rides. Or our very soon planned trip to the Alps.
