sounds like a vaccum leak. check the intake boots, vaccum lines and if CV's the diaphrams.
spray carb cleaner around the intake boots and vaccum lines while it idles, paying attention to where it is spraying. If there is a noticable change in idle, you've found a leak. Not sure how to check the diaphrams.

Just like fastbugtlr said, check for a vacuum leak first. If you do not find a leak, I have seen this caused by dirty carbs. Just remove the top of each carb and clean the slide.

Did you just pull the air box without adding a jet kit?

The trouble sounds like you need to adjust the fuel mixture screws. Please email me with the specifics surrounding your current carb setup and I'll see if I can help. [email protected]
