Tail Light Removal Question

Alright I got the whole back section of my 2005 GSX-R 600 off. I am installing a Lockhart Phillips new integrated tail light. However, I am having trouble taking off the original gromets from the factory tail light. I turn and turn and so does it and it never comes off. There is no nut in the back that we can see. Post up any suggestions. Thanks.
