has the TRE mod been worth losing the gear indicator in any of your opinion. that actually have done the mod.

Yes. keep in mind the K5/K6 1000's and K6/K7 600's/750's are the only bikes that come with a gear indicator stock as a standard option, I think all of us have ridden bikes without gear indicators and been just fine, it's just a nice feature for a stock bike:cheers
chillywater- what difference did you honestly notice. once at 13,500
to be real honest, i haven't noticed much difference, that could be due to installing my performance mods all at once after i rebuilt from my highside, but i'm sure you'd be able to tell on a bone stock bike with or without the TRE, i'd get it if i was you, and don't worry about the gear indicator, its no big deal;)
and BTW at 13,500 the beast absolutley rips, i think my modifications all put together make it a handful, and i'm not running anything like Throttlestop or COMEBACK, just simple bolt on type stuff
I have a switch on mine.I can turn it on/off So i can still use my gear indicator if i want. The only way i can tell its working is when under load i flip the tre on and the motor smooths out.It does make a difference but not that much.

do you have any other work done to you bike?
I have a turbo now,But when it was piped it was the same difference
well I am a bit biased....... and around here its called a JSD :)
Thanks For The Replys Very Helpful
im having a bad experience with mine. i have a jsd on mine and everytime i have it connected the bike is sputtery and jerks alot and i get a fuel injector light that keeps coming on. when i take it off, the bike runs great. just my personal experience. took it the shop and they said the same thing and said i should take it off cause the bigger bikes 06 1000 does not really like the tre/jsd. by the way mine is switchable too but still does the same thing

I have the automatic jsd tre from jeffw, it works great for me. really for the price you pay for this thing and the time it takes to put it in or take it off, its not a big deal. Sometimes i leave it in and sometimes if i want my gear indicator back (like when i tried the moto gp shift:eek:hmy ) i just pull it out in 2 minutes.:cheers
i'd say get it and if you don't like it its not a big deal.
I had one on my 05 750 which had no gear indicator. I didn't think it was worth it even then. I think that very few mods to a bike a worth it. That's why mine will stay stock for a long time. The only thing I noticed a difference from was a custom tune on my PCIII. Very smooth. Plus I am getting used to a nice quiet exhaust, lol!
I have two gixxers both have switchable JSDs installed. After mapping fuel injection on both with my TEKA, I seldom use or turn on the TREs. Once your bike is mapped correctly you don't really need it. It does still give a small boost in performance but its not really needed unless your screwing around and doing power burnouts or going for a top speed run (which I seldom do).:cheers
