Your friend is an idiot and you're likely to lock and crash or loop it just "slamming" the brakes on like that.

Have you read this entire thread? All your questions are answered.

Or follow the link in one of the posts to Gary Rothwell's site, he explains it in even more detail.

One question.... While attempting a stoppie/endo, what type of error makes the front wheel turn to the side, lock and you know the rest...?

Hi ppl, i´ve got this ´87 model, rims and brakes from an 1100 bike, plenty stopping power. Anyone doing stoppies on this machine?
I just cant seem too get my rear in the air hehehe, is it me or the bike, it feels like i´m on the limit of locking the front wheel and i´m sitting on the tank doing at least 30 mph but no go.
Any input here?

First stoppie i ever did saved my life. I was coming off an on ramp onto the high way back in 98 and (still a newbie at the time) saw some gravel and just stood the bike up and started trying to stop before i hit the highway. I ended up slamming on the brakes and doing a 12 oclock stoppie, the truck that was coming down the highway doing about 120km's swerved by about 2 feet and missed me by about a foot. Then the bike came down on an angle and fell over. Lets just say i was thanking god for awhile after that experince. Since then i have maybe tried stoppies a few times but i see from reading in here i have been going about it all wrong. Thanks for the advice guys.

actually i came to ask the same question, i just learned how to do it properly, i cant do one while rolling but i can get the bike up about 45 degrees when i come to a halt. all logic tells me that it has to absolutly kill my breaks and pads, even my brake lines.
especially practicing one after another.
so to you all who do stoppies and stunt that often ^ what that guy said

stoppies pretty much suck since i ate ashphalt. 1. dont do them approaching a stop light lol 2. dont try to do a stoppie on a crowned road at first. find a level parking lot like walmart at about 4 pm. jk. 3. no stoppies are a lotta fun when you learn them ive been riding since end of may and im still trying to get the steering down on rolling stoppies. its really hard but have your gear on cause you will bite it eventually. whether its head over heels like me or front tire sliding out.

Yo mustang your from amherst? Didn't phizer just shut down a ton of plants down there? I remember looking on cycle trader and seeing a million bikes and most of them were from people who had just gotten laid off. Are there still a bunch for sale down there?
