I bought a set of 36mm flatslides to replace & upgrade the stock carbs. I'm not 100% sure what the stock carbs are. I think they are 32mm cv's. Is this correct? If I was to sell them, what would be a fair price to ask for them?

the stock 86 750 carbs are 31mm......and not to sound like a dick, but they are garbage. the 34mm's from the 87 and the 36mm slingshots are so much better than the 31's that it's not even funny.

i guess you can probably auction them off on ebay....say, starting at $40 or so....

Yeah man, the 31's breathe like crap. I've got a set of 34's and 36's I'll play with this winter and see what HP I can get. Don't forget you'll need the boots for the larger carbs to mount to your motor. If you're lucky you could sell your 31's to someone with a GS/CB/KZ/GPZ-550.

Thanks for your honesty guys. That's why I bought the 36mm flatslides. I will probably just toss the stock carbs in the dumpster. I do have the correct intake boots, they came with the carbs. All I need is a set of K&Ns to install them. I'm excited to see the difference they'll make. I heard it's huge, like 12 hp. We'll see come next spring

Thanks again

bcklrcr,

if you have the intake boots for the 34mm carbs, you should be able to wrestle the 36's on - spraying wd40 on the mating surfaces will make it a lot easier.

onewheel,

the flatslides will make a very noticeable difference - the stock exhausts and carbs on the early gsxr's really choke them and restrict power output.

Jeff,
Thanks for the info. The bike has a yosh pipe on it. These new carbs will make a fun ride that much sweeter.
I'm going to ride her the way she is the rest of the year, over the winter going to make a whole bunch of improvements.I'm already looking forward to next spring!!
