Might look like a dumb question, but I recently changed my oil for the exact same brand and viscosity and noticed a a smoother shifting. Why is that?

The oil in the bike was 3000 miles old.
If the oil is deteriorated to the point at which your transmission doesn't feel smooth anymore, isn't that bad for other engine parts like crank bearings and cams?

I think the transmission should feel smooth as long as it's lubricated but definitely noted a difference.

I always think all vehicles are a bit smoother after a service. Might just be in my head though ;)
