As mentioned in my other post, I have a cracked crankcase where a broken chain smacked it. I let a welder at the bike, who first messed it up, but was then able to weld it up fairly well. After welding, we coated the entire area in this sky-blue epoxy which becomes almost like glass when dry. I was just wondering wether anyone has had any experience with this sort of substance. It's not leaking now, but can I trust it?

I would be shopping for new (ebay) cases, plan a build up for the winter at the VERY latest.

epoxy resin will hold ive fixed a few cracks in cases with it but you have to be sure the surface you put it on is spotlessly clean and free of oil as even a small drop will lift the resin and put you back to square one

Thanks for the resonses. I've decide that my brain and spine are worth more than $1000, so I am going to replace the engine. I found a couple at my local bone yard. Thanks anyway.
