The only things I can think of, would be something like a backed out stator bolt grinding against the cover (or something similar elsewhere), but that shouldn't depend on acceleration or overrun, or perhaps a worn chain guide grinding against the chain, which might conceivably only happen (or be worse) on overrun.

If it does it in idle, when blipping the throttle, I'd suggest trying to pinpoint the source by ear.

Where is the noise coming from? Without more information, it could be from lots of places.
misadjusted drive chain
failing wheel bearing
failing starter clutch
failing timing chain tensioner
failed brake pads
failed rear wheel cushions?
failing clutch back torque limiter?
