Hey all,

So my K5 1000 engine has been back a while and I'm gearing up to the first start and run in procedure.

The top end of motor was re-built with Yoshimura Type-R cams, springs, collets, and retainers.

The Yoshimura cam service manual states the following:

Keep the RPM below 5000 RPM for 200 KMs (125 miles approx)...Then..
Keep the RPM below 6000 RPM for 300 KMs (186 miles approx)

The motor also had a bottom end refresh of new bearing shells

Should I just follow the initial running in period like you'd do for a new GSXR 1000?

Thanks.

I think it would be better to use, initial procedure like on new bike. I won't take long and be better for parts.

I'm tending to agree with you.

Gonna have to slap on some road bodywork or get a daylight MOT, and better put the bike on tyre warmers before going out too as the tyres are like cut slicks and lethal when cold

Good way to test the Gripone traction control system though.
