Just did mine a few weeks ago. It is a pretty simple job but yes the trick is finding a way to hold the damping rod inside of the tube to loosen and tighten the bolt on the bottom of the fork tube. I found a large piece of hex steel at my work. Suzuki sells a special tool. I don't know if the broom stick will do the job only because i had to torque mine to 50 ft. lbs. A bit of info. You may want to change the two teflon coated bushings while you have them apart. My manual, and dealer reconmmend it. I should have but didn't because mine were already apart and it was a week or so to get the parts. I wish I had, 3 week later and it is still not running.
