anyone know how to remove the washer/shims from the fron brake rotors to give them a more floating effect? This was done on the 1991 gsxr i used to own but i didnt do them. Id like to do it to my 92 anyone have any advise?

My old 97 had them on one set of wheels. When I first got them I was like, I think this things are bad, look a them they move too much.

I'd say just get you a small screw driver and start prying them off.

i believe brute force is what adam [PDG] does to his ... or just flatten them and leave them in place...

I did this on my EBC race rotors, they told me it was fine to do this and I've had no problems in 1000's of miles. Just pry off the clip ring holding the button on, and remove the wave washer, put clip ring back on. I don't know about the stock rotors, but they are probably similar. Tells us how this turns out if you do it.

yup, i flattened out the spring washers on my all my sets of EBC rotors, but if you're asking about stock rotors, i have no idea how to help.

i see an 03 ttr is that the same one i rode at summit? or did you get a new one?

I should update this info. My EBC something-lites with no wave washers wore out the aluminum carriers and made quite a racket with alot of slop.
The EBC guys gave me a very good price on a replacement set of rotors/carriers with 1 mm think washers to replace the wave ones, which I
installed. So far so good. I am not sure how safe no washers at all is in the long run.
