Afternoon ladies. I don't get on the forums often but I figured this was the perfect spot to ask my question.

I've recently started having a issue with my baby. My 08 GSXR 750. In 4th gear, at about 6rpms, there is a dead spot. Meaning, I can roll on the throttle but it will not accelerate. Then all of a sudden, it will skip past the dead spot and jerk forward. Keep in mind the bike has just over 3k miles on it. For all intents and purposes it is brand spankin' new. All it's normal services etc etc. So when my bike intially started having this issue, I called the shop I purchased it from and left MESSAGE AFTER MESSAGE for someone to call me back. Only after showing up in person did I get a chance to actually speak with someone, and this is what I was told. The bike needs to be remapped. they "see this common problem alot when the pipe is swapped out" it's going to cost me 75 bucks to have it remapped. I explained to them I had the issued BEFORE I put the pipe on. They pretty much ignored what I said and just reiterated that it needed to be remapped. Mind you they haven't even looked at the bike at this point, just listening to me verbalize the problem. Has anyone else ever had this issue and if so, what was the resolution?

At this point I honestly feel like I'm being taken advantage of due to the fact that I'm a female. Any suggestions?

Also if anyone lives in the Atlanta area, can you suggest a good shop to take my bike to?

I put a slip-on pipe on mine... no dead spot. Call their B.S.

Honey I am sorry to tell you but the STEALERSHIP will do anything to make some extra money. I dont know why. They get paid for warranty work.
Now it may not be totaly BS that your bike needs to be remapped for optimal performance. Everyone know a Filter or S/O changes the Air/Fuel of the bike, but I have never heard it causing a dead spot...Do you have the OEM S/O put it on and bring it to them. Then they can't say it is the S/O. But $75? How are they going to remap it with out a Fuel Management Unit ? Are they Dynoing it too?

Nicky, this is exactly what my '08 600 was doing at same mileage, etc. They replaced the O2 sensor and it's never done it since (now at 6000 miles). Several others had same experience. I don't know how or if your after-market exhaust enters into the puzzle. Hope you get it resolved without too much headache.

My thoughts EXACTLY on the "stealership" I explained to the asshole I spoke with that it was a SLIP ON, not a full exhaust system and that the CAT was still intact. It's at a DIFFERENT dealership then I bought it at that can do warranty work. I'm hoping to have an answer on what the issue is by day end. I made sure I had them run it in dealer mode when they hook it up to the diagnostic machine so I know they wont give me the runnaround as well. (hopefully lol)

Thanks for the input! I will run the 02 sensor past them as well as see what they say. Question, when your bike was having the issue, did you have a after market pipe on your bike at the time?

Already did. Told them that my pipe was a slip on, not full exhaust, CAT still intact so no need for remapping. I have a big mouth and I'm not afraid to use it lol

Most likely its your TPS needs adjusting. You're experiencing the infamous "herky jerky". Just do a search on how to adjust your TPS and you'll find a bunch of info on it.
