I got the bike registerd and rode it to work this morning and it seems pretty good.

The exhaust is poping a bit on closed throttle.

I'm pretty sure the idle mixture is not quite right. Although it pulls without hesitation from a standing start.

Any thoughts on if it would be mixture and if so is it too lean or ritch.

I know it blow smoke if it's 1/4 turn further out, so if it is lean it must be pretty sensative!

Thanks guys.

I didn't think of valve clearance. I've only had the bike a short time and this was on the to-do list. Exhaust is in pretty crappy condition.

Good rule of thumb, Sickz. I will try it 1/8 richer.

Also I found it a bit warm riding home yesterday along the expressway at 1/4 throttle, so I suspect I may need to raise the needle 1 notch, but it is pulling well. I'll do the mixture first

Guess there is more fiddlen to do

I wound the mixture out 1/8th and the revs dropped, so I think it was closer before.

So then I did some plug chops and as I suspected it was a bit lean in the mid range. Getting a full throttle one is fun isn't it?

So I raised then needles one notch and now is seems a bit smoother down low and the popping has reduced.
