a friend of mine saw a honda with a polished frame, and a clearcoat on top.

according to the owner, the frame kept its shine no matter what. since I have to change the front forks, engine and rear swingarm on my bike, I am wondering about polishing the frame and then have it 'clearcoated'

any suggestions???

my entire bike is polished,it is not clear coated.the company said never clear coat because the alum will still oxidize and you cannot remove the oxidation without removing the clear.i would recomend not doing it either. it takes time and regular polishing but if you do it regularly it is not bad. if you let it go it gets increasingly harder to return the shine. it looks good but make no mistake it takes a long time to do the wheels, forks, frame, swingarm, triple clamps, and all my other pieces.if i were to do it again i would stick with the less is more theory.

i tried to do it myself but ended up sending the larger pieces out. money very well spent.i did do the small stuff myself, brakets, rear sets, levers, triples ect. have a good grinder and buy the right compound sticks and wheels. in the end the start up cost was prob equal to just having it done. but after having the RIGHT stuff i have done some little shit for pals to offset inital cost. spend the money let the pros do the big shit.

if you have the ability to start a project like this you prob have the knowledge to do the disassembly and save a little that way.
