Did the steering damper mod on my '07 600. I didn't submerge the damper in a container of oil...I just attached a 1ft piece of 3/8" clear hose to hole on damper and zip tied it. Added fluid slowly. Worked like a charm.

I replaced the stock fluid with 15w Fork oil. What a HUGE difference!

The bike is much more stable at highway(and beyond) speeds now.

I def suggest this mod to anyone running an oem damper.

If your bike is not stable at highway speeds, or even triple digits, you have a major problem.

You need to look at suspension setup, not damper, if the bike isn't stable.

Nothing wrong with the bike and/or suspension. I set basic sag per Dave Moss youtube video.

Was just trying to point out that the 15w fork oil stiffened up the steering....so the bike isn't affected by buffeting(wind, tractor trailers, etc) at highway speeds. Steering seems more precise when cornering also.
