I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Tom, I'm from San Jose, CA and was introduced to the site by Long_av8r. It seems like a great site with lots of good information being passed around. I ride an '86 1100. It's Blue and white and it's got low miles (8k orig.) I bought it 2 months ago. It' s in great mechanical shape but was dropped by the previous owner on the left side so I'm just now replacing all the bodywork.

I have been into GSXR's since '87. I have owned every model 750 and 1100 from '86 to '91. After 1991 I couldn't really get into the bikes anymore because the paint schemes werent my taste, so I stuck with the older bikes. My favorite was my red/ white '88 Slingshot with 1127 motor. I'm glad to be here and will be asking questions as my memory of working on the bikes could use refreshment. I have lot's of old literature on GSXR's and most of the old Yoshimura catalogs if anyone needs that kind of stuff.

welcome tom. yeah, that longav8er, he is something else...something called an addict. too bad he will be moving.

you should fit right in here in the oiler section. i am in sactown and have been into these bikes for many, many years. i currently only have four, but i am sure that av8er will surpass me. likewise, i never got the urge to get a newer bike.


by the way, i would like some foto copies of those yosh catalogs. i have some interesting oil-cooled stuff and we can trade copies or something.

Welcome to the board. I'm a newbie my self, however I don’t have the extensive background with early GSXRs. I just previously owned one and now want one again.

I would love to see any 88-92 literature you may have. I could offer you a small contribution via PayPal if you would be willing to scan and post/email some of the catalogs or brochures pertaining to the slingshots.

I actually have original dealer brochures for 89 and 90. I can scan those this week. I have the yosh catalogs for 1988-1991 also. I'll let you know when I have them scanned.

One of my best finds was the original 86 dealer brochure.... one of my customers mailed it to me after going through some boxes he had, doing some housecleaning. :banana

I have dealer brochures for 87, 88, and 91. I'll scan those, but my experience has been that it is difficult to email because of the file size.
