Nice...I was going to go with the M&P .40 but ended up going with the Glock instead. My buddy has the M&P in 9mm and loves it so I'm sure you'll enjoy the .45.

The M&Ps are great and I love the grip. The trigger kills me thought. I ended up going with the G23 myself. I had been looking at putting a 9mm M&P in the collection though.

What's the deal with the trigger that everyone seems to have an issue with? I've never actually fired an M&P.

Mine have been mushy, lots of creep, gritty and long reset. There is a local guy here who fixes them almost to perfection (better than having the Apex trigger installed from my experience.) The trigger safety takes some getting used to as well. I've heard the newer M&Ps are coming with much better triggers from the factory.

Go dry fire one in the store. For me, the trigger itself was really smooth but what I didn't like was the reset. On the glock you get a nice solid and even audible reset that you can feel. On the M&P it was very weak at best and sometimes I wasn't even sure that it reset. Just a personal preference thing. Whenever I do pick on up I'll do a trigger job on it and won't have any problems.

5" c.o.r.e. non ported 9mm is good candidate to take the next bunk in the safe. Dont have a ton of trigger time with m&P besides the Shield. Mostly i'm running XD and they all have Powder River triggers. My XD 5.25 comp runs awesome with really no over travel and crisp reset. I have never held a polymer framed non custom shop OEM pistol that did not need trigger work. I'm speaking on travel, gritty trigger thats the owners deal. take it apart clean and polish pins sear ect.
2 years ago I got into 3 Gun. If you have not tried it make some time and give it a go. Awesome fun sport. I also play with the PPR guys but glass is so expensive these days!! Fun to hear the plates ring from farther than you can see though!!
