Well I don't know if people have checked out my website yet, but here is my 99 r1 and I will post the mods below. All work was done myself except the block where I had leesperformance.com do it up and let me tell you, she rips. So far this forum is




Mods are: Full Micron Serpant exhaust, pvm white 5 y spoke rims, red galfer front/rear lines, k&n filter, airbox mod, ivans jet kit, Sprocket Specialists 530 +2 rear, Progrip gels, ZG double bubble, Scott's stearing damper, Graves reverse rearsets, translogic quickshift 2, sams servosub, crankvent, mirror blockoff's, turnsignal flush replacements, rear integrated (w/ brake lights) turn signals, Intuitive frame sliders, Intuitive clutch slider, rear and front fully-floating braketech rotors, WSB braced swingarm powdercoated black, ohlins rear shock, Traxxion fork cartridges, Graves red swingarm spools, targa solo seat cowl, black pantera gas cap, pro-bolt Ti rotor bolts and sprocket nuts, flow-commander (on mains) and remote, rohm ignition advancer, Acumen DG8 gear indicator, ape manual cam chain tensioner, ported head, 1mm oversized j/e pistons, degreed cams...

june 25 it's going. She's old, but my next ride will be a k5 I believe. Not sure when, but I'm moving away from the new r1's because of the lack of bottom end. just a personal opinion. I like power all over

andtal: yes, honestly I think they are the best r1's...very low profile nose/windshield and lots of bottom end on them. With my mods it competes or beats many of the newer 1k's on the top end also. soon though i'm going to have to upgrade if I want to stay in the running

Performance Bikes Mag' in the UK have just done a project on a 1st gen R1. Spent about £2000 on it and made it outperform the 05 model in every way except peak power. The new engines got more horses, but you need to rev it a lot harder to get them.
Guess it depends how much you want to spend!!!!!
