Hi, I'm Metricnut.

I picked up a 2021 GSXR 1000 this summer. I've spent the last several weeks pouring over this forum trying to learn as much as I can. Thank you guys for sharing all that you do.

My bike is still 100% virgin. I haven't even started it yet. Zero miles. I couldn't ride it with the stock configuration. As soon as I get my ECU back, It will be ready for it's first ride. My goal is simply to build a nice street beast that looks good. Maybe a few expressway roll on battles, with other bikes with stock wheel bases, are in my future. :)

I've done a few "basic" mods to the bike:
Slip on ( soon to be a full system)
ECU flash
MWR foam Air filter
520 Chain & sprockets ( 43 rear, 17 front)
Pair valve block offs
Vortex Rear sets
Exhaust hanger & rear passenger peg removal.
Brocks Seat
Brocks adjustable lowering link
Dropped the front end about .63 inch
A few carbon fiber items, front fender, chain guard, side stirp panels (moto composites brand)
Hot Bodies, flush mount, front turn signals
Hot bodies rear under tail
Home made plate hanger
Motul oil and K&N oil filter change

That's a banger of a bike. Something you might want to do to the new M0 is to get a loctite on the triple clamp nut. I have heard (and personal experience) the nut decide to "let it goo" and fly off to neverland. Just make sure after putting on the loctite you torque it to the factory spec.

Welcome, nice, stealth.
Thank you craigfer63 (y)
welcome and hello, not sure I like where Suzuki is going with the honda CBR tails but its a gorgeous bike either way, hot dang what a hoot!
Hello TwistedMister (cool name). The K5 is still my favorite for body styling. Blue and white to be specific.
nice Akropovic is the way if you ask me
Hi nannynooch, Picking an exhaust is so challenging. So much so, that I decided to just put the Akra slip on, on there so I could put the decision off until winter. But I am leaning towards a Brocks Penta Carbon full system.

Thanks nizar151, I will do that. I am a fan of blue loctite and factory torque specs. I appreciate your help. (y)

So I am guessing this is gonna be a drag/grudge bike?

Whoa, nice purchase. Even more impressive self control to not fire a cylinder yet. I'm looking foward to spotting one of these 21 matt black Gsxr's in the wild. Very curious to see what that paint finish looks like in the flesh. Thanks for sharing and enjoy!
Thank you blackjack, I dabble in photography as a hobby. I bought the bike from out of state because all my local dealers did not have the "non R" version in stock. So I ended up renting a truck to get it home. When I rolled the bike in my garage I decided that I wanted to get that hideous rear fender and the 55 gallon exhaust can off before I took it out for the first ride. Then the project snow balled a little bit and I changed a few more bits.
So I am guessing this is gonna be a drag/grudge bike?
Yeah, looks like I am heading in that direction. At 52 y.o. my hooligan street riding days are in the past for the most part. I will be the slow guy riding to bike night for the good conversation. And I hope to get out to the drag strip now and then to let the bike stretch it legs.

Does not compute!

Nice intro thread / gorgeous bike - welcome new guy.
Thank you le skid!
UPS delivered my flashed ECU Monday. I was out riding an hour later. I had to go out and violate the factory break in recommendations. :D
After 20 miles I was back home to adjust the chain and do a torque check on the sprocket nuts and a few other critical fasteners that I could reach without taking the bike apart.

Super nice looking bike. You'll enjoy that for sure.

Welcome!!
Thank you rippin-gsxr!
I spent my evening putting on some Vortex levers. They match the Vortex rearsets. I know they contribute very little to the performance of the bike. But I like the way they look. They feel nice too, compared to the stock levers.

Oh right on!! Looks sick! Gotta have that stuff. Complements the perfomance upgrades nicely. Did similar on my 2020 1K when i got it last year after the new exhaust and flash which was done the first week i had it. 😎. Stock it made much better power than my old bike but that wasnt a GSXR and its why I came back plus even more powers always good. 😀

Keep the nice mods coming! 😎

I went for my first ride with my step son last Sunday. He picked up his first bike, a 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale. Not a perfect first bike for sure. He has 500 miles of total riding experience now.
But I suspect it is partly my fault he bought a Ducati. I owned a 1992 Ducati, 900 Super light when he was an impressionable young boy. The seed for his love of Ducati was planted.
He is now 32 y.o.. I can't tell him what to do. So I try to share my honest opinion on the risk he is taking and encourage him to be patient and focus on developing his riding skill and learn how to stop the damn bike before going fast. And to ride often so he can develop the muscle memory and teach his body how to give input to the controls without him having to consciously direct them to do so.
I enjoyed our first ride together tremendously.

Got to get him to the track ! Shout him track days. Much safer to throw that thing down the road on the track than on the street.
Personal experience. Its only a matter of time before I'm eating dirt. 😁 And my Gixxer is cart wheeling. 🤣

Thats awesome!! Sweet looking Ducati too!

Yeah mentor him where you can. Im about his age and started on a 08 gsxr 1k I absolutely had to have when i just turned 21. I can blame that on watching tons of motorcycle racing on tv. Would have appreciated a mentor instead as it was a sketchy start for me. Lol. Quickly modded the bike for more power and i used it. Got hooked on track days 😀 which glad i did. Sold the 08 when i was 25 wanting more power. 😎 Put that with every penny i could get a hold of and dropped it on a new s1000rr. Bike was a 12 but got it in mid 13 for a better price but still serious cash. Meh should have kept the cash and my 08 instead. Had no low or mid range at all even after mods and tune. Blew two engines under warranty then they repaired the third. Done with that i got the new 20 gsxr 1k last year. Woot woot its awesome. Big upgrade.

Enjoy your rides together!

Thank you for your replies craig and rippin(y) I appreciate your suggestion and enjoyed the story of your journey, round trip back to Suzuki!

Lot's of "firsts" for my new Gixxer, gave her a bath in the driveway with a hose and a bucket of soapy water last week. We went to bike night for the first time together. And we did the first oil change this weekend at 350 miles.

I decided to safety wire things while changing the oil. It's my first time doing any safety wiring. I just did a little "YouTube Research" Any tips on improving my safety wiring skills is welcome. I am going to try to do as craig suggested and take my step son to a track day for some skill building.
