Hi all, long story short I fitted a bike it alarm on my bike a few days ago, positive and negative terminals to the battery then it goes in to this black box and the siren and other wires come off the box for the indicators to flash etc. The only thing I connected was just the terminals on the battery and the siren alarm. As I just wanted the alarm noise for movement on the bike.

Now before starting the bike you press the unlocke button on the fob so it doesn't go off. Started the bike fine rode for 20 odd minutes turnt the bike off and wouldn't start up again! Like some sort of immobiliser problem! Turnt the ignition on the pump kicked in as normal there was no messages on the dash saying CHEC etc. It was just when I pressed the start button it wouldn't do anything!

This problem has only started since fiting the alarm and I replaced the mirrors for led ones so had to get a led flasher relay to slow the blinking down and I read somewhere that the relay does the side stand switch aswell? Maybe this could be the problem?

Sorry for the long post but any ideas would be great!

Cheers.

The flasher relay also includes the interlock relay, which is connected to the side-stand switch. But putting the bike in neutral will allow it to start with the side-stand down. There's an O/G lead to the dealer mode switch. Measuring it will tell if the ECM is getting power (sounds like it is but you ought to confirm). You could also check both sides of the Ignition fuse but it sounds like it's also OK. At the moment I'm thinking that there might be corrosion on the Start button contacts.

Thanks Billv, I took the alarm off completely today and started up fine and turned the bike off and started back up. When it's a bit dry out I'll take it for a little ride and see if if starts when I turn off again.

I could check the start button for corrosion, easy job to do?
