Greetings friends, I sold my old school H2 and my '89 GSXR 1100.. Just turned 63 and thought about hanging up the leathers. But, just couldn't pass up this deal on a 600 L4 in killer shape at a really good price. Going to pick it up next week.

Already started collecting up a few parts and looking forward to getting it track ready. This is my first late model sportbike so I've got some learning ahead. I'm going to leave it stock wheelbase but will lower and strap it down. Send the shock to Litz for a rework. ECU flash, Shinko, also thinking quick shifter maybe.

One question to start is what are the clutch mods or baseline setup needed for an L4 ? I looked on Brock's site and others but haven't found anything. I know MTC sliders but not this slipper thing. :)

Would appreciate all feedback on getting a stock motored 600 to go quick. I'll post some photos of my project along the way.

TIA for the help. :thumbup

quickH2,

Glad to see you still have the bug at 63!

I really have no idea what to tell you on your clutch, other than:
1. If it's a slipper clutch, it will chatter on the launch and need to either be locked into place or removed.
2. In most drag applications, we will add between 10% and 25% additional spring pressure - that depends on if the original clutch comes equipped with a judder spring. Too much static will cause excessive grab on the launch without the judder.
3. We only use OEM steels/frictions.

If you post images of your clutch, I'll try to help guide you.

Here a motivational video of one of our old SuperSport Suzuki 600's making a 9 second run.

Thank you Brock for taking time to get me headed in the right direction. Much respect for you as record holder, industry leader, and all around good guy.

That video of Vince is indeed a text book perfect launch and gives me a goal to shoot for. Good memories of ProStar days. Couple of reasons I went with a 600 is that I hope 600 SS class comes back someday, more challenging to launch correctly, and I just don't have the strength anymore for the weight and power of a modded Busa or 14.

I'll get the clutch photos posted. Your performance center not too far from me here in KY and I would like to come up sometime, say hello, and buy some of your quality products. I know you can help me with ECU and tune as well.

Thanks again--- Garrett

I have zero hands-on experience with the 600's so I don't think I'd be of any help. The clutch lever play info for the K5-6 1K I posted came courtesy of @BrocksPerf and has worked perfectly for many years :thumbup

@garrett,

Looks like our 1000 ultra-mod might fit?

I can send you one to test, or, if you send all of the items in the photo - our engineering team can check it out as well as determine mods to increase your static spring pressure and send everything back to you ready to race.

Send me an e-mail to [email protected] if this interests you.
