Sad day yesterday.
Getting ready to go for a ride the slope on my drive and my own stupidity came together.
One step away to close the front door and the crash from behind me told me my Gixxer was down.

My daughter came out to help and we picked him up.
Thank goodness for R&G crash mushrooms but on the way down the tail hit the corner of the garage and smash it up.

Now I have a list of bits to buy and I'm so annoyed with myself for my moment of madness.

The moral of this sad story to my Gixxer brothers and sisters is take care even before you leave the drive

I dropped my zx6r this weekend as well. I messed up putting it on the stand when I was done with my ride bc I couldn’t see the other side and down she went. Only got a scrape on the swingarm that will cover easily with a decal.

I threw up in my mouth a lil' when I saw that pic.. gutted

don't feel too bad, no longer than 15 minutes ago went to turn my desktop computer on went down like a 2 dollar whoo'er, no chit, not wearing a stitch of gear of course.. almost completely took out a vintage 86 charvel with me along with a custom strat, my whole being was focused on not letting the charvel go to the ground which was breaking my fall at the same time, I saved it and the fender with my foot, a 2 fer.. but my right knee/shin is wasted as is my left forearm, everything was flying here and there the 32" monitor went flying across the table and knocked a bunch of stuff to the floor, a small tool holder with fine screwdrivers, allens and so forth got tipped over in fashion on top the printer and of course half of it migrated down into the paper slot..

just goes to show people, ALWAYS WEAR YOUR LEATHERS!

I think a guitar cable caught my foot? cannot recollect, I mean I was just pushing a computer button FFS not seeking a morphine drip in the ER.. when they told me this could be a rough neighborhood I had no idea...

unreal..

talk about clumsy... good grief, I must have won some sort of award or something, Darwin? at least an 8 for saving the guitars and the one point elbow up landing, its like something just took my foot out from under me? weird

so sorry for your loss, I love that graphics scheme, maybe my all time favorite..

Thanks for all the support guys.
In 43 of riding (Yes I am really old enough to have better sense) I have now dropped four bikes , my moped when I was first starting out and I was sixteen (1978) the DT50 Yamaha I still have in the back of the garage.. two Gixxers and one ZX9r.
I'm going to keep looking on the web for a tail section while I look at repairing the one I have damaged.

This is where buying one of a 1500 worldwide run turns out to be a bad thing as I have only found one partially damaged ZK3 rear section in the USA !
Its going to take a some money and time but he will be back better than ever.

Hey try and take a positive from it. Maybe it’s time for a single seat conversion (race style) or something else. Try and be positive. Sorry for your luck :(

Damn, yeah I've been looking for Alstare fairings for 2 years, there aren't many, I've only managed to find a second set of side covers. Additionally I believe that tail section is all purple paint with the gold / white as a sticker, you 'may' be able to find a new sticker set for the tail and have the purple resprayed. I was able to find stickers for the side fairings for an alstare, so there is hope. Otherwise I'd find another Alstare and swap the parts and re sell it, theres a few for sale around New England.

EDIT: I looked around a bit and it looks like they may have the tape set in stock at revzilla, I believe the Alstare is 68145-39FA0-MG8

That’s a good idea. Then you have all the time to find a nice one to keep perfect for later. And get the old one fixed like twistedmister said.

What if you just buy a new 01-03 tail (any color) and sand / prime it, then just have it painted professionally + the stickers.

welp if its a proper job as in a new tail section not plastic welding the old or using bondo it's worth it, look at is as a $440 brain fart, happens, we wouldn't own bikes if we didn't accept that as being part of the deal... can't count the number of times I've went down at a dead stop, flip flop flying across the parking lot, you name it.. gotta real good drop rash on my Busa cuz where I stopped there was a pot hole where my foot was posed to go.. down I went... like a hooker on dollar tuesday..

I leave the rash there as a reminder to always pay attention to where I'm stopping... gg

you'll get it back to mint, long as its OEM tail and its painted proper in every detail it counts as original as the tail section was made during the run of that bike so if you have to strip one down and start the process all over its worth it, someone can prolly make those stickers or you might even find OEM? scour the globe, you might get lucky?

hale you might even find an intact tail section?
