What did you use for bushings in the swingarm?
What did you use for bushings in the swingarm?
The ones that came with it. All the bushings, bearings, dog bones, link ect are from the '93.

is that the frame you painted silver??
Yep, and the swingarm that I got from you as well :biggrin

cheers
looks good, nice mix of parts...what body work do you have? paint?
Wow, awesome work!

Your post brings up a questions I have been dying to ask: What later-model swingarms can work with the 89-92 frames? I would love to be able to get a used swingaarm from an SRAD model and use that, but I do not want to waste the $$ on it only to find out it does not fit.

And what about rear sub-frames to use other (later) model seats and bodywork? Has anyone done anything like that? I saw the article last month in the British magazine Performance Bikes, and the guy there made a rear subframe to fit a 2009 Fireblade (CBR 1000 RR) race seat and bodywork, and I thought I might be able to do the same for a late-model (2005 or later) GSXR.

Thanks to anyone who can provide insight!

I'm going to repaint the spares that I have in '89 1100 blue/white. Also have and upper and one piece lower coming from the Dude.

Thanks, I think that up to 95 it's a direct fit, after that not sure.

The sub frames are welded on, so if you would like to replace it with something newer it would have to be welded on, so pretty much anything goes as there are no bolt ons.

Started threading the new harness today :punk

The '94 ignition switch mount holes are larger than the '89 so the switch mount holes have to be drilled out, just so you know.

Also the upper tree has no mounting provisions for the guages :chucks

i've mocked up a 03-04 gsxr arm -sprocket needs aligning
iff you get brackets welded to your frame you can bolt any subframe on you want
good job Rick , i'll have to start on mine after i get a friends bike finished
All -

Without hi-jacking the OP's thread, thanks for the responses I got to my questions!

I'll post some results in my own thread (already started) but I'll follow this thread closely for more ideas!

Thanks again!
Found a solution to the electrical issues, cut the battery box and welded the starter relay mount plate to where the box was cut.

The CDI box will lay down inside nicely.

Got the rear wheel monted up.

Restored the guages and mounted them up as well.

And I pulled the oil pan off to replace the gasket and found this...

Looks like someone dropped the motor on the drain plug at one time.

Gonna try to goop it up tomorrow.
